CANDY STRIPER OF THE MONTH-Jennie Shimom.ed.
was selected Candy Striper for the month of April. Jennie is a
senior at Nyssa High School and plans to major in pre nursing
at the University of Oregon She recently received her 50-hour
pm for service as a Candy Striper at Malheur Memorial
Hospital.
Some of Jennies duties are storing linen and helping
nursing home residents with various tasks. Jennie said "I
help wherever I am needed."

Mrs. Ethel Thompson and
Mr and Mrs Clyde Long of
Nyssa
39th Anniversary
Mr and Mrs. Les Burbank
were honored on their 39th
wedding anniversary Sunday,
March 23.
Hosting the event were
Mr and Mrs. Alvin (Ruth)
Allen. Mr and Mrs. Monty
Burbank. Mr and Mrs. Craig
Burbank and Mrs. Hannah
Burbank. Seven grandchil­
dren were also present for
the happy occasion.
Cake and ice cream were
served at the Allen resi­
dence.
The Owyhee Garden Club
will meet Friday. April 11 at 2
p.m. at the home of Mrs.
Kenneth Price with Mrs. Carl
Lee Hill as co-hostess.
There will be the installa­
tion of the new officers and a
plant exchange.

papers for the yearly report.
Historical Society
To Meet
The Malheur Country His­
torical Society will meet in
the east-west lounge of the
Administration Building of
TVCC in Ontario. Thursday.
April 10.

The business meeting will
be held at 7:.W p.m. and at 8
o'clock. William (Bill) Wilt of
Nyssa, a railroad enthusiast,
will present an illustrated
talk on railroading. He has a
fondness for the old steam
engines and his hobby is
scale railroading.
Everyone is welcome to
attend this most interesting
meeting.
Pollyanna Club
•
The Pollyanna Club met
Thursday afternoon with
Mrs. Mary Radford with 12
members present.
Mrs. Elsie Gehrke, vice-
president, presided at the
meeting. Mrs. Betty White
gave the secretary-treasurer
reports.
The afternoon was spent
‘visiting after which the
meeting adjourned.
It was decided that the
next meeting will be a
handerchief and plant ex­
change for Mother's Day.
