Biology II-III Independent Research

ftsniia Mackay is studying the effects of alcoholism on
mice. She hopes to esamine possible birth defects in baby
mice resulting from alcohol consumption in female mice.
Jill Jackson is culturing blue green algae and studying viral
infections of the algae cells. Assisting in these studies is Mr.
J. C. Pollack of the University of Oregon.
Nina Vanetti and Danny Slmantel are studying
osmoregulation in cray fish. They are obtaining radioactive
sodium from Oregon State University to use in their studies.
Gail Cleaver ia trying to grow chicken embryos in plastic
ba*' A'»''"ng her in these studies are students from the
College of Idaho.

Knapp returned to her home
Saturday from St. Luke's
Hospital in Boise where she
had been a patient since
Thanksgiving Day. She suf­
fered a heart attack while the
Knapps and the Phil Clucaa
family were guests of Miss
Florence Miles in Boise for
dinner
The Jolly Janes Club will
hold their annual Christmas
dinner at the home of Mrs.
Darrell English. Monday,
December 16 at 12.30 p m.
The dinner will be covered
dish and a gift »change will
follow and secret Pals will be
revealed.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Ketner and Mr. and Mrs. C.
W. Musgrove of Marsing
called on Mr and Mrs. John
Packwood Sunday afternoon.
Cattle may be a losing
game but someone forgot to
tell this to Lee Lovitt's cows.
Last week three of his cows
gave birth to twins. Two sets
were mlsed and one set was
bulls
Mrs. Dyre Roberts and
Mary Carroll accompanied
Mrs David Krause of Nyssa
to Nampa Sunday where they
were luncheon guests of Mrs.
Mane Douglas and Mrs.
Florence Henderllder
Boyce Van DeWater en­
tered the Caldwell Memonal
Hospital Tuesday and will
undergo knee surgery Thurs
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Smith of Deary. Idaho came
Saturday evening and will
stay with Mrs. Van DeWater.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sillonia
and family and Mrs. Rose
Burns of Nyssa spent Thanks»
giving weekend in Burley
where they were guests of
her sister. Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Mia and family.
Susan Carroll of Sunset
Valley was a weekend guest
of Judy Lovitt.
Tom Ishida is a patient at
the Caldwell Memorial Hos­
pital recovering from a
severe heart attack.
Mr. and Mrs Boyce Van
DeWater and Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Smith were Sunday
dinner guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Bauman at the
Palomino Cafe in Ontario.
Mr. and Charles Witty
attended the Treasure Valley
Chorus presentation in On­
tario Sunday. Mrs. David
Witty sings with the group.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur
Roberts of Pinehurst were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don
Roberts Monday They also
called on Dyre Roberts
Mrs. Varner Hopkins fell
Sunday evening at her home
breaking her knee cap. She ia
a patient at the Holy Rosary
Hospi.al in Ontario,
