RAY NOVOTNY
Tomato Blossoms fall to Pol
linate
With the coming of hot
weather a number of home
gardners are experiencing
problems in getting their
tomato blossoms to set. The
blossoms fail to pollinate and
fall of!
One of the reasons for this
is that tomatoes set fruit very
poorly when temperatures
are above 90 degrees. The
ideal pollinating range
is
between 58 to 72 degrees. In
some instances this problem
can be minimized by the use
of chemicals that aid pollina
tion. These are available at
garden stores.
Beans arc also affected
with the blossom drop
problem when temperatures
get above 90 degress. It is
important that soil moisture
levels be held high during
these periods in order to
create an environment favor
able for seed set.
All bids must be received
by the City Clerk before 5:00
P M on July 9. 1974. and
must be accompanied by a
cashier’s check or money
order for 10% of the bid price
or $100.. whichever is larger.
Bids will be opened by the
City Council at the Council
Chambers. Nyssa Citv Hall,
on July 9.
1974 at 8:00
o'clock P M Successful bid
ders shall have five (5) days
from the date of notification
of acceptance of bids, within
which to pay the balance of
the bid price. Ail other bids
will be returned. The City
makes no representations
regarding said properties and
reserves the right to reject
any and all bids. All sales are
final and are subject to
encumbrances, if any. except
City liens. Title shall be
