PAUL VALENCIA CASTS OFF against
Vale Friday night, with many of the Vale
rooters m the background. Valencia is pro
bably the speediest Nyssa player in many
years, and his 14 points helped the Bulldogs
in their victory over Vale, 52-49. Bulldog
center Jeff Marquez, left, is awaiting the

In Greater Oregon
tors were just about as tough
Nyssa kept its unbeaten
slate clean in the Greater
Oregon League with two big
victories over Vale and
Grant Union of John Day
over the weekend, with Jeff
Marquez leading the Bulldogs
with 18 points each night.
Friday night the Bulldogs
beat Vaie, 52-49 in a thril
ler before a packed house
in a crucial game. Close all
the way, the Bulldogs were
21-20 over the Vikings at
half-time. Nyssa pulled to
a 7-point lead after three
quarters, then Vale whittled
away to within one point, but
two free throws by Frank
Moore in the final seconds
clinched the victory for the
Bulldogs.
JEFF MARQUEZ
Saturday night, and it was
another thriller with the Bull
dogs finally winning 39-37.
Barry with 18 and Catron
with 15 kept Grant Union very
much in the ball game.
The two final home games
of the season will be this
weekend,
with Prineville
here on Friday night and
Madras Saturday night. Then
the Bulldogs take to the road
for five games, climaxed by
the Vale game on March 9
at Vale.
