In Double Ring Ceremony
MR. AND MRS. CLARENCE WERNICK
were honored at a 40th Wedding Anniver­
sary reception, held Friday, November 23
at the Masonic Hall in Nyssa. Standing
behind the couple

John (Cleta) DeBoer of Ontario; and Lau-
rance Graham of Santa Ana, California
Approximately 70 guests attended the event.
Mrs. Foy Sasser served coffee. Mrs. Lau-
rence Graham was at the punch bowl and
Mrs. Clarence Wernick Jr. cut and served
the cake.
Patricia Marcum was in charge of gifts,
cards and the money tree. Sara Marcum
and Margie Sells assisted in the kitchen.
Unable to be present for the occasion
were Mrs. Hillary Brown, a daughter from
Riverside, California, and Mrs. Albert Clay
of Gold Beach, Oregon.
Pollyannas Hold Christmas Party
The Pollyanna Club held
a potluck dinner and Christ­
mas party at the home of
Mrs. Bill Toomb last Thurs­

There was a Christmas
gift exchange in the after­
noon, followed by election of
officers. New officers elec­
ted were Mrs. Earl Ervin,
president. Mrs Paul Gehrke,
vice president; Mrs. Ray
White, secretary-treasurer.
The next meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. Myron
Osborn.
On Friday, November 23,
1973, at 7 30 p.m. Vicki
Jeanne Blackner of Ontario
became the bride of Jack
Wilson of Nyssa in a double
ring ceremony at theChurch
of Jesus Christ of Latter-
Day Saints in Ontario. Bishop
Glen E. Banner officiated at
the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Black­
ner of Ontario and Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Seburn of Route
2, Nyssa.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride chose a
floor-length gown of crepe
backed satin, styled with a
lace bodice andsleeves Her
matching lace finger tip veil
was held to a floral band
and she carried a bouquet
of white
and turquoise
gladioli. The gown and veil
was made by her mother.
Jolene Hunsaker of Rupert,
Idaho was maid of honor.
Gayla Schwartz of Arco, Ida­
ho and Ila Moulton of Coty,
Wyoming were bridesmaids.
All bridal attendants wore
floor-length dresses of tur­
quoise and white gingham.
They carried sprays of white
roses and turquoise carna­
tions, tied with matching rib­
bons
Flower girls Teri Taylor,
cousin of the bride, and
Mana Hawker, were gowned
in floor-length dresses of
turquoise and white gingham.
Allen Wilson was bestman
for his brother Ring Bea-
rer was LaMar Blackner.
Ushering the guests were
Doug Tracy, Larry Blackner,
brother of the bride and
Dennis Price
For
the wedding, the
mothers of the bride and
groom each wore street­
length dresses of turquoise
polyester. Their corsages
were white and turquoise
glads.
A reception followed the
ceremony in the church cul­
tural hall
The two-tiered
white wedding cake was de
corated with turquoise bells
and roses and topped with
double rings and doves. The
cake was made by the bride's
mother.

Harns
served cake and Gretchen
Harvey served punch. As­
sisting were Mrs. Ross Tay­
lor, Mrs. Don Taylor and
Cindy and Cathy Potts.
Geraldine Seburn, sister
of the groom, was in charge
of the guest book. Valarie
Anderson and Jo Ann Mills
received gifts.
The new Mrs. Wilson was
graduated from Ontario High
School and attended Ricks
College, Rexburg,Idaho. Her
husband, a Nyssa High School
graduate, is presently em­
ployed as a carpenter.

FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
Friendship Circle met at
the IOOF Hall December 7.
Hostesses were Orma Clea­
ver and Blanche Weeks. A
bountious potluck turkey din­
ner was enjoyed from a table
decorated in beautiful holi­
day trim.
Merle Johnson, president,
presided over the business
meeting. Twenty-three mem­
bers answered roll call
Election of officers for
1974 are: Merle Johnson,
president, Leona Reeves, vice
president and Louise Wernick
secretary- treasurer.
After the close of the bu­
siness meeting Santa Claus
visited bringing a gift to
each. Next meeting will be
January 4. The place to be
announced later.
LEGION NEWS
The American Legion and
Auxilary pot luck was very
well attended, Thursday
evening, December 6, at the
Eagles Social Hall.
Myrl
Towne had the tables set
with a Christmas theme.
Wyatt Smith said grace, after
which everyone partook of a
bountiful meal.
Christmas carols were
sung under the leadership of
Ellen Richardson and Nora
Graham, with Jean Maughn,
at the piano.
Then all turned their
attention to the Christmas
tree, trimmed by Clarence
Pounds.
The many lovely
gifts were landed out by
Mural Lewis and Everett
Heldt, ably assisted by Joe
Maughn and Herman Towne.
The children present also
received a bag of Christ­
mas goodies.

The December meeting of
the CWA Club of Oregon
Trail Grange was held at
the home of Chairman Betty
Kurtz
The group met at
noon for a potluck dinner.
Orma Cleaver asked the
blessing.
Violet Drydale led in the
devotional tiefore a short bu­
siness session. A schedule
of meetings was set up for
next year with the January
8th meeting to tie held at the
home of Orma Cleaver with
lva Adams as co-hostess. A
demonstration on how to
make broomstick crochet is
planned.
A gift exchange followed
the meeting.
All Grange women are
welcome and are urged to
attend the meetings.
Memtiers of Oregon Trail
Grange met in regular ses­
sion Thursday evening, De­
cember 6, with Master Ira
Price presiding
Plans for the Christmas
dinner were discussed and
the date was set for Thurs­
day evening, December 20,
7 p m. Turkey will be fur­
nished by the Grange with
members bringing potluck
dishes. A Christmas pro­
gram and 50 cent gift ex­
change will follow the din­
ner Members are urged
to bring family and friends.

Belles is the promotion of
beef and with anything to do
with the cattle industry They
support and assist beef edu­
cation in schools by provid­
ing money for the home­
economics cooking classes
for teaching how to cook the
economy cuts of beef. They
provide recipes for luncheon
meetings and have a" Father
of the Year" contest.
