Bomb Scare
At Payette
NEWS FROM BIG BENI)
•V*
Payette students had an
unexjiected half clay off from
their studies Monday as the
result of a telephoned bomb
threat.
The threat was the se
cond received by the Payette
School District during the
day. The first call threa
tening a tomb came at 8 21
a.m to the Payette County
sheriff’s office where a de
puty answering the phon was
informed "there’s a bomb in
the high school and it’s going
to go off ”
School officials evacuated
the building of about 500stu-
dents while officers from
both the sheriff's office and
the Payette Police Depart
ment searched the building.
Deputies said no bomb was
found.
Students were dismissed
at about 12 30 p.m Monday
when an unidentified caller
told a school employee in the
high school office that a
bomb would go off at 3 30 p.
m. School officials decided
to call it a day for all
school (Lstnct students be
cause the caller had neglec
ted to designate which school
was lieing threatened. Sear
chers again found no bomb.
