59, Nyssa, who died Thursday
November 15, 1973 in a Boise

He was born October 18,
1914, in Kane, Pa., and was
graduated from high school
there. He married Rose Smith
in Kane May 17, 1937.
He
was employed as an interior
decorator He came to Nyssa
in 1960, worked for the Rail
way Express, and also operated
an insurance agency. He was
a member of the Catholic
Church.
Survivors include his wife of
Nyssa; a son, Richard Burns,
Ketchikan. Alaska; two daugh
ters, Mrs Patricia Mai. Bur
ley, and Mrs. Janice Sillonis,
Adrian, and seven grandchildren

Volleyball, drill team, and any
other girls' use of gym faci-
lltltes is limited by the num
ber of boys programs going on
now.
The Elementary School needs
a
place to carry on a good
intramural program during the
winter months. Space is at a
premium, and we actually need
a new building that can be di
vided into two practice areas.
The Old Gym is used every
day, and most evenings with
community groups that wed
practice space. Last year two
town groups of young men and
two church groups used the Old
Gym most nights during the
week.
The old Gym needs to be
replaced. The Building Com
mittee recommended to the
School Board that the Old Gym
could not economically be re
paired to where it would be
satisfactory to serve the needs
of the Elementary School pro
gram.
The floor is in very
poor condition and there are
very limited shower facilities
The needs of the school dis
trict require more gym space
if we are to carry on the
programs that are now in pro-
gress.
Starting at the 7th grade,
we now are practicing five
groups--7th, 8th, 9th, JV and
varsity. The 7th grade team is
now practicing during the noon
hour, the Sth grade practices
in the Old Gym at 3:30 p.m.;
the 9th grade uses the Junior
High School gym before school.
The problem of space shor
tage is that the Junior High and
High School are using the same
facilities There is a problem of
scheduling in shop, music, gym,
and all areas the same physi
cal space is needed.
