Carlo« Parra, son of Mr.
and Mrs. David Parra, recently
entered eight pictures in a state
art contest sponsored by Na
tional Scholastic magazine. For
this display he won a gold key
award for outstanding achieve
ments and received a letter of
congratulations from J.K. Gill
Company of Portland.
Carlos, a student in the eighth
grade of Nyssa Junior High, has
received numerous awards for
his excellent work in local ex
hibits and last fall took third
place in state competition at the
State Fair in the water color,
adult classification.
His teachers, Mrs. Virginia
Brandt and Miss Marie Coate,
feel that he is ready to seek
higher awards for his artwork.
