Game Commission Says
“Hands Off Wildlife”
The Oregon Game Commis
sion today issued its annual
reminder of "hands off” wild
life and their young of the year.
For the next few months these
youngsters will be found in
their usual hiding places. Fawns
will be born, upland game bird
chicks will be hatching, water
fowl will be busy raising their
young ones. It’s the time of
year for reproduction to take
place as wildlife of all species
reproduce their kind. And it
is unlawful to molest them or
take them home as pets.
Invariably the circumstances
under which these woodland
creatures are discovered lead
some persons to believe that
they are orphaned, alone and
helpless. This is far from the
truth as the parent animal is
usually nearby, hiding in fear

of the intruder. Adoption and
removal from the wild almost
always leads to unnecessary
death of wild youngsters. Their
chances of survival are much
greater if they are left alone,
unhandled and undisturbed,
