Christmas, 1971
Millions of words have been written about Christmas, but
the simple line of St. John, the beloved Apostle, tell the best
description of the Messiah;
“The Word was the true light that enlightens all men; and
He was coming into the world.
“He was in the world that had its being through Him, and the
world did not know Him.
“He came to His own domain and His own people did not
accept Him.
"But to all who did accept Him, He gave power to become
children of God, to all who believe in the name of Him who was
born, not out of human stock or urge of the flesh or will of
man, but of God Himself.
“The Word was made flesh, He lived among us, and we saw
His glory, the glory that is His as the only Son of the Father,
full of grace and truth.” (1:1-14).
A blessed, Merry Christmas to all!

YES, VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS
From an editorial in the New York Sun, Sept. 21, 1897
We take pleasure in answering at once and thus
prominently the communication below, expressing at the
same time our great gratification that its faithful author
is numbered among the friends of The Sun:
Dear Editor:
I am 8 years old.
Some of my little friends say there is no Santa
Claus. Papa says “If you see it in “The Sun” it’s
so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa

Virginia, your little friends arc wrong. They have
been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They
do not believe except they see. They think that nothing
can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as
certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and
you know that they abound and give to your life its
highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the
world if there were no Santa Claus!
No Santa Claus! Thank God he lives, and he lives
forever A thousand years from now, Virginia, he will
continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
