Herb Sez...
Have you found a letter in
your mail inviting you to take
out some form of insurance
lately? If you haven’t something
must be wrong, like your mail
isn’t coming through. You could
make money betting on the days
an insurance letter will be in
your box.
This nation of ours is a very
healthy country regardless of
smog etc.
It is also a very
accident proned nation auto
mobile wise. Everybody is try
ing to get into the health act
and auto insurance is higher than
a cat’s back in a yard full
of dogs. The insurance com
panies are smart cookies they
know that the country is filling
up with old people and the
obituary columns consist main
ly of people over 75 years of
age.
The health tab past 65
is lifted by uncle US so that’s
also a good bet. Modern medi
cine and medical practices have
made it rather difficult to die
of anything but old age and
car accidents.
Health
in
surance is a good bet for the
companies. Those between 60
and 65 who want health insurance
must consider that they’re a
bum bet because their rates
are higher than a flagpole sit
ters lap.
To be safe a person’s got
to insure against everything or
run the risk of losing his shirt.
If you don’t have liability in
surance and some one busts his
prat on your front porch you
may find yourself out of busi
ness.
It pays to look at the
fine print to make sure that
to collect you don’t have to break
your leg at 4;30 when stuck
in an elevator between the 75th
and 76th floors of the Empire

I pay more
for insurance per year than I
used to make in a year.
The insurance companies are
crying about losing great quan
tities of dough but fail to men
tion that the only place they’re
losing is in our accidents.
Otherwise they’re losing so
much they only own all the
large buildings in the United
States. Nobody knows how much
else they own but the tallest
buildings in every city are hard
to hide.
Riots took a big
bite of their profits so they no
longer insure in riot prone
areas.
I realize they lose
money in some areas BUT I
can’t think of any business that
doesn’t lose somewhere.
It
looks like they don’t have to
bear down quite so heavy.
