Stitch and Sew Sewing Club
had their first 1971 meeting
Monday, January 11. President
Marva Don Case called the
meeting to order. We have a
new member, Mary Turner.
There was a discussion about
giving some demonstrations on
hemming, darts, and facings.

are doing the hemming, Mary
Turner and Sherri Price, the
facing; and Debbie Peutz, the
dart.
The meeting was adjourned by
Tina Hamilton.

Lillian Ashwell were honored
guests at a no-host dinner held
previous to the business meeting
opened in ritual form January 11
at the Elks Temple.
During committee reports,
Blanche Rowe announced that
a blood drawing would be held
January 19 with the quota being
150 pints.
Preparations are now being
made for the Annual Sweetheart
Ball to be held February 6.
The social meeting for January
is the Mother-Daughter banquet.
After the meeting honoring
the guests, a reception was held.
Repeating wedding vows in the
Pendleton Methodist Church on
December 19, 1970 were Miss
Cheryl Nagley, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Dean Nagley of Spo­
kane and William R. Myers, son
of Mr. and Mrs. William L.
Myers of Nyssa.
■ Officiating at the double-ring
ceremony, performed at 6 p.m.,
was the Rev. Dwight Townsen,
in the presence of approximately
100 guests.
The church was
decorated with floral arrange­
ments of red and white car­
nations.
Cheryl, given in marriage by
hpr parents and escorted to the
altar on the arm of her father,
wore a floor-length gown of silk
organza. The fitted bodice was
lacaxover organza and featured
a s<jpar§ uyckline and long lily
point lace sleeves. The full
chapel length veil of illusion
was edged with lace and held
in place by a lace and seed
pearl headpiece. Her bridal
bouquet was a nosegay of white
carnations and red rosebuds,
with long ribbon streamers.
Maid of honor was Stephanie
Nagley, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Randy
O’Brien and Marci Myers,
sister of the groom. They were
all attired in red satin floor­
length gowns with long sleeves.
Candlelighters
were
Walt
Myers and Rick Myers, brothers
of the groom.
Best man was Terry Sander­
son of The Dalles, high school
classmate of the groom. Ushers
were Chuck Foster, Portland,
also a high school classmate;
Walt Myers and Richard Myers,
brothers of the groom.
For her daughter’s wedding
Mrs. Nagley chose a beige dress
and the groom’s mother wore
a blue dress. They had identical
corsages of carnations.
Following the wedding a re­
ception was held in the church
basement.
A beautiful five­
tiered white wedding cake high­
lighted the brides table. Assist­
ing with the serving were Mrs.
Smith, Hermiston, grandmother
of the bride, and Mrs. Walter
Morris, Rufus, Oregon, grand­
mother of the groom.
For her going away costume
the bride wore a camel color
dress and plaid coat.
The bride is a graduate of
Pendleton High School, attended
Blue Mountain Community Col­
lege and is presently employed
at Interpath Labratories in Pen­
dleton. The groom graduated
from The Dalles High School,
is working at Harris Pine Mills
and attending Blue Mountain
Community College.
The couple are now at home in
Pendleton.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin L. Hicks of Phoenix, Arizona announce
the marriage of their daughter, Sharon Rae, to Darryl Warren
King. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. King of Nyssa.

The wedding rites will be held January 22, 1971 in the LDS
Temple in Mesa, Arizona. Sharon has a twin sister and they
were born in Phoenix. She graduated from Cortz High School
and was a cheer leader there for two years. She is now majoring­
in business at the Glendale Comm unity College, Glendale, Arizona*
Darryl was graduated from Nyssa High School in 1967. He
served a two year LDS Mission and is currently employed as
a Financial Consultant with the Security Planning Service Inc.„
Phoenix. The couple will make their home in the Phoenix area.
There will be an open house in honor of the newlyweds at
the Nyssa LDSCultural Hall,January29,from8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
