A liberal arts major, Orrin -,*5, somewhat following his older brother’s footsteps. Chuck Corak was a student leader and one of the college’s first . studentbody presidents. Chuck is now a teacher in La Grande. The boys are sons of Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Corak, 121 Park Avenue, Nyssa. Writer For Idaho Magazine Tells Of .. Early Football Incredible as it may seem, Dob Hoag who wrote the story about early football in Magic Valley for INCREDIBLE IDAHO yjs. the same Bob Hoag, who i6. associate producer of the Red .Skelton television show. - Hoag is a native Idahoan from «Twin Falls, recalling when his grandfather operated the Ever green Tourist Court way back hi the days when the jitney was .taking to the open roads... .and we do mean open roads. Those were the days when the Sampson <Tra"il was a rambling dirt strip «darting in and out of sage and rocks. In order to be sure one was actually on the road he had to watch for the dabs of orange paint on rocks or the old red barn. In his article, Hoag in speaking of the average weight of “The Wonder Team of 1901” wrote, “As my boss, Red Skel ton might say.... Rosie Grier’s breath weighs more than that.” These were the days when “it took just three downs to make five yards and a first down. There was no forward pass.... and there were no quarters.” Regarding the schedule played in the good ole days, Hoag wrote, “There were two high schools in the territory and we played each school twice. One high school was in Buhl, about 40 miles away. The other was in Pocatello, 120 miles distant. As there were no cars, busses or jets, it took two full days on the train to get to Pocatello.” Football has come a long ways since 1909 and Bob Hoag - Idaho’s native son - has proved that Idahoans are incredible in their climb to professional ac claim.
