Aliens Must Register Prior To January 31 The Mexican Americans to gether with other members of St. Bridget’s parish, Nyssa; Blessed Sacrament, Ontario; and Holy Family, Vale, cele brated the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe with a Spanish Mass celebrated by Father John Baumgartner, at St. Bridget’s. Father Charles Young delivered the sermon in Spanish explain ing the history of the appari tions and the meaning it had for the Aztecs of the time, and the meaning it should have in our own day. The picture of Our Lady was carried in procession by Rudy Longoria and Rupert Saldana with Ruben Lopez and Eluterio Martinez accompany ing with candles. The Mexican American ladies of the parish served cake and coffee follow ing the ceremony, while Rudy Longoria provided music with the accordion. TREASURE VALLEY GROWERS and SALES C. W. Johnson, district dir ector of the Immigration and Naturalization service recently urged all aliens in the State of Oregon who have not yet filled out alien address report forms, to do so before Jan. 31, at the nearest Immigration and Nat uralization Service office or local post office. The immigration official pointed out that the law requires all non-citizens, except persons in diplomatic status and for eign representatives to certain international organiz ations, such as the United Nat ions, to report their addresses to the government each January. Johnson added, “The parent or legal guardian of an alien child under 14 years of age must fill out the address report form for such a child in order to comply with the law.” He declared, “We have tried to make it as convenient as possible for non-citizens to meet the address report re quirements; and in view of ser ious penalties for willful vio lation, all persons subject to the address report law are urged to'fulfill this obligation before the end of January.” Johnson advised, “It is easy for an alien to meet this re- W . ', HELLO WORLD!/ quirement. He just goes to the nearest Immigration and Nat uralization Service office or post office and fills out the address report form and re turns it to the clerk. Any non citizen who is ill may send a friend or relative to obtain the card for him, and return it to the clerk after it has been completed by the alien.” The immigration official said 10,500 aliens in the State of Oregon have already filled out address reports. He estimated that 25,000 such reports will be submitted before Jan. 1. Oregon hunters are advised I that the Omnibus Crime Bill - I the so-called new federal gun I law - does not affect or re- I strict Oregonians in hunting for I any of the wild animals of the I state. I Roy Atchison, legal advisor I for the Game Commission, told I hunters recently that this new I federal law has nothing to do I with hunting, and that Oregon I citizens as well as non-resid- I ents may continue to hunt in the I state according to regulations I prescribed by Oregon law. ■ Atchison said that in the i future, according to the federal gun bill, a person purchasing sporting arms or ammunition will be required to provide the i dealer with his name, address, 1 age and other information at I the time of the purchase trans- ) action. The dealer places this»; information on a federal form which the purchaser must sign, and this record is maintained by the dealer. Restrictions are also placed on the interstate shipment of sporting arms and ammunition. These restrictions and require ments will result in some incon venience to hunters, other law- abiding citizens and dealers in the purchase and sale of sport ing rifles, shotguns and am- I munition, the attorney thought. , In addition, the new federal j gun law prohibits the sale of shotguns, riflesand ammunition for these firearms to persons j under 18 years of age, and the | sale of pistols or pistol am- I munition to persons under the age of 21. However, Atchison said, there is nothing in the federal gun bill which prohibits or re- stricts a person, regardless of age, from hunting according to the statutory laws and regul- ations of the state in which he resides, or in which he hunts.
