AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY WOMEN OF
Nyssa Post 79 met June 4 at the home of Mrs.
Herman (Myrl) Towne where they installed
officers for 1968-69. In the photo (front row -
1 to r) are Mrs. Towne, Mrs. Verna Tobler,
and Mrs. M. J. (Josephine) Corak. Behind
them are Mrs. H. O. (Julie) Hopkins, Mrs.
C. M. (Lucy) Pounds, Mrs. Ellen Richard
son, Mrs. Angie Cook, Mrs. Joe (Jeanne)
Maughan, Mrs. Louise Heldt and Mrs. Willa-
fern Weeks.
Past President Mrs. Tobler
served as installing officer. The new officials
are Mrs. Towne, president; Mrs. Heldt, vice
president and publicity chairman, Mrs. Hop
kins, second vice president; Mrs. Maughan,
secretary, Mrs. Wesley Browne, treasurer;
Mrs. Cook, chaplain and Mrs. Pounds, his
torian. At the recent meeting, the group dis
cussed plans for a cooked-food sale to be
held in the near future. Refreshments were
served by the hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. Wernick pre
sented each of the graduating
seniors with a gift of perfume
and each Daughter with a bunny
rabbit sachet. They also pre
sented each council member
with a gift. Refreshments of
cup-cakes, punch and coffee
were served.

ATTENDS SOC RITES
To Fete Newlyweds
Mrs. Bob (Marie) Wilson re-
turned home June 6 after
spending several days with her
son-in-law and daughter, Ray
and Linda Erland at Ashland.
While there she attended grad
uation rites at Southern Oregon
college where Ray was among
members of the senior class.
Before Mrs. Wilson returned
home, the trio took a trip
through western Oregon, taking
the inland route as far south
as Crescent City,Calif., and did
some fishing along the way.
The Erlands will visit in
Nyssa before he leaves in Mid
July for Lackland Air Force
base at San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Erland plans to remain
in Nyssa while her husband
takes his basic training.

The session was called to
order by President Mrs. Tom
Drydale. A theme for the county
fair boot was discussed, but no
decision was reached.
Mrs. Frank Holub was
appointed to buy gifts for men
in the nursing home wing at
Malheur Memorial hospital m
remembrance of Fathers’ Day.
Eleven members answered
roll call by telling of some
amusing incident which hap
pened at their weddings. One
member told of a heading on
a news item (not hers) which
read “Hearts and Diamonds

Mrs. Pat Bond, Malheur
county treasurer, was guest
speaker. She gave a detailed
report of her office work.
Refreshments were served
to 30 members and guests by
Mrs. Lucielle Runcorn and Mrs.
Jim Jamieson. Next meeting
will be June 20.
