Other squads participating were those from Glide and Sutherlin. On Friday evening the Bull­ dogs fell to the Glide Wildcats by a 58-42 final score Brad Maxfield led the NHS scorers with 12 points. Antelopes Begin Basketball Play With Two Wins The Bulldogs hit 31 percent of i their baskets from the floor with 28 percent from the free-throw line. In the Saturday night contest. I Nyssa fell to Sutherlin high with a final 55-43 tally. Ross was high point man for the evening with 18 counters. He also pulled down 19 ! rebounds. Sutherlin’s high scoring man was Jeff Vermeer with 17 coun­ ters. Percentagewise. Nyssa made 58 from the charity stripe and 20 from the field. After surpassing Nyssa Friday night. Glide went on to overpower the Phoenix Pir­ ates and captured the first place trophy. For the past three years Phoe­ nix had taken first place honors, but this year finished second to Glide. Sutherlin took the third place tropy. The Adrian Antelope hoopsters opened their season last week with two wins on their home floor. The Friday evening thriller ended with a 62-60 victory over Homedale, as Ben Conklin tossed in the winning basket just as the buzzer sounded in overtime play. Conklin was high scoring man for the Antelopes with 32 points. Other counters were made by Tim Holly, 12; Zikmund 8: Tim Tailman, 7; and Atagi. 3. Top scoring men for the visiting Trojans were Roland Woodburn and Mike Pearson with 20 points each. The Antelopes found the going not quite so rough Saturday eve­ ning as Tailman. with 20 points; Holly and Conklin, with 12 each, combined their scoring talents to down the Jordan Valley squad by a 70-49 final tally. A two-day invitational tourney is scheduled Friday and Saturday on the Capital high mats in Boise and the Nyssa boys will be de-! fending their championship title.
