Fred McCarthy Dies
After Brief Illness;
Colorado Rites Held
Funeral services for Clarence
"Fred" McCarthy, a World War I
veteran and retired employee of
Amalgamated Sugar company,
were conducted Tuesday after­
noon. Jan. 11, 1966, at Greeley,
Colo.
Mr. McCarthy succumbed last
Thursday in the Veterans’ hospi­
tal at Boise following a brief
illness.
He was born July 25, 1895, in
California and before coming to
Nyssa, resided in Colorado. In
1941 he began working as pulp
dryer fireman at Amalgamated’»
Nyssa plant, and upon retiring in
July 1961 held the position of as­
sistant dryer foreman.
In addition to his widow, Helen
McCarthy of the home at 54
Beech avenue in Nyssa, he is sur­
vived by one* stepson. Edward Lee
Turk of Hermiston and five
