To the Editor:
We have just received the most
gratifying word from the county
budget board that a new budget
has been set that is within the
six percent limitation. In the
letter of the law, this is true; ac
tually, it is a lie.
Few taxpayers know what the
six percent limitation is, and
fewer know who the members of
the budget board are. The final
passage is up to those three mem
bers of the county court and the
taxpayers might better find out
the names of the three, why they
spend money, usually more than
their salaries, to get elected and
what they are getting out of their
positions.
There is no good reason why
the budget could not have been
cut six percent or more below last
year’s figure and instead of plac
ing mother worthless bur
cratic county office on the

already have. As offices become
obsolete, they could and should
have been closed.
The budget board made a big
thing out of no opposition to their
new parasitic office. I would like
for them to point out to me JUST
ONE TIME when public opposi
tion to their waste was heeded in
any way.
The only cure for this Marxian
tax and share policy that is now
being followed is by either an
election or a war. The former
would be preferable to the latter,
but the latter may come if the
trend continues.
RIGHT NOW is a good time for
every taxpayer to resolve to find
out who is running for office as
a county commissioner or judge,
what he wants to be elected to
do and what he advocate« And
RIGHT NOW is the time to con
tact some anti - Marxist citizens
and propose that they run for of
fice to eliminate this perpetual
increase in taxes and waste.
Missionary Family
Arrives in New York
Newell Heights Mr. and Mrs
M L. Kurtz received a recent
telephone call from their son.
Harold and family who had ar
rived in New York City.
They are missionaries to Ethio
pia, had served there for five
years and are now taking a year’s
furlough. They had just arrived
in New York from England and
were to remain there until Satur
day.
They then planned to visit semi
nary friends in Pittsburgh. Pa.,
and then go to Des Moines. Iowa,
to visit college friends. On July
24 they will go to Tarkio. Mo., to
assist during church conference,
hoping to arrive at the parental
Kurtz home around Aug 7.
They stated that their plans for
the school months are still indefi
nite. but they will probably locate
somewhere in California. Kurtz
hopes to settle in a college town
so that he can study anthropology,
the science of man.
