In Recent Tourney on Local Lanes

NU ACRES—A meeting of the
first aid class was held March 29
at the home of Mrs. Vernon Wal­
ker in Parma with 10 members
in attendance. Lesson was on
“What to Do in Emergencies” and
was conducted by Mrs. Ralph
Baxter.
Another meeting of the class
was held Friday afternoon, April
2, in the home of Mrs. Leroy
Howard. Lesson on “Artificial
Respiration” was conducted by i
Mrs. Baxter who also showed a
film in connection with the sub­
ject.
The next lesson will be on
“Bleeding and Bandaging” and

VACATION IN CALIFORNIA
Steve Parker and Bruce Jack-
son went by bus to Victorville,
Calif., during spring vacation to
visit the latter’s grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hillman. The
boys were taken on a tour of
Catalina Island and also visited
other points of interest in the
area.

in Boise.
Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Kersey
spent Friday in Boise getting in­
formation regarding Kersey’s ad­
mittance to a hospital for possible
surgery on his injured back.
ALL AREA WOMEN INVITED
TO ATTEND GOLF SESSIONS
Members of the women’s asso­
ciation held their first meeting
and golf session of the year Tues­
day, March 23, on the new 18-hole
course located west and south of
Ontario. Hostesses were Rita
Dietrich and Shirley Burks.
Claudia Taylor and Ellen Sitz
were hostesses for the March 30
session and report a good attend­
ance.
Association meetings are held
each Tuesday with noon luncheon
followed by golf. All interested
women of the area are invited to
join the group.
Classifieds Bring Results!
Standings posted at the Sugar Bowl reveal that many of
the 95 participants went to the local lanes intent on capturing
honors in the March 18-19 spring vacation bowling tourney.
During the handicap event there were 26 scratch games
of 200 or over rolled by the bantams, juniors and seniors; a
total of 41 scratch series in the 500 or over category are re­
corded, with Allen Roberts of*
Gayway Bowl rolling a 613 Rick Nall of Caldwell, 1157,
scratch series, followed by doubles; Nyssans Steve Pecora,
by Ken Brown of Nyssa with Wayne Takami and Tom Stringer,
an even 600.
1666, team; Ken Brown, 1684 and
Vickie Hamilton of Nyssa had
the high scratch game for girls i
with a 215 score, while Steve Pe-
cora of Nyssa took honors among
boys with a 238 scratch game.
Nyssan Mary Danford rolled a 504
scratch series which was high for
girls in all divisions.

girls are Tina Alexanderson of
Caldwell, 4 8 9 series, singles;
Joyce Jennings and Lineta Sted­
man, Nyssa, 910 series, doubles;
Nyssans Joyce Jennings, Jolene
Holmes and Nancy Wilson, 1387
series in team event; Nancy Wil­
son, 1193 scratch all-events and
Joyce Jennings, 1398 handicap
all-events.
BOWLER-OF-THE-YEAR HON­
ORS went to these young Nys-
sans, Don Brown (on left) and
Kent Boydell when they emerg­
ed as winners in a recent con­
test held at the local lanes. The
Bantam keglers were presented
trophies at the annual banquet
held Saturday evening. Bowler-
of-the-month awards went to
Jon Morgan, Ricky Wilson, Scott
Engstrom and Harry Brendle.

PINEWOOD DERBY WINNERS
LISTED FOR CUB PACK 458
Cub Scout pack 458, sponsored
by the LDS church, held its pine­
wood derby during a March 29
regular meeting.
Winners of the event were
Craig Froerer, first; Roddy Lewis,
second; Gene Bair, third; and
Roger Glenn, fourth.
Den mothers are Mrs. Owen
Froerer and Mrs. Marion Glenn,
while Froerer serves as cubmaster
for the unit.

Tuesday evening dinner guest in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H.
Boydell.

In the senior girls’ division,
award winners are all from Cald­
well and include Linda Lawson,

ter, 1464 scratch all-events; and
Linda Lawson, 1823 handicap all­
events.

boys are Jim Hogge, Caldwell,
677, singles; John Sather, Ontario,
and Paul House, Jr., Nyssa, 1256,
doubles; Steve Schroeder, Rob
Rudolph and Jim Hogge, Cald­
well, 1863, team; Ron Schwasin­
ger, Ontario, 1663 scratch all­
events; Jim Hogge, 1921 handicap
all-events.
Participants were youthful keg­
lers from several towns in the
valley, with 44 Nyssans entered.
The tourney was staged and
awards were given by proprietors
of the local Sugar Bowl.
