DeRock is a radar operator, sta­ tioned with the U. S. Air Force in Greenland. His wife, the for­ mer Carolyn Handley; their chil­ dren, Brenda, 4 and Michael, 11 months of age, reside at 20 Park ■ avenue in Nyssa. | The airman has been in Green­ land since February and is a son of Mrs. Ross Brown of Nyssa. Mothers Are Guests at Piano Recital Presented by Pupils in Seward Home Weekend Events Fete Graduating Students A Hawaiian luau was staged Saturday evening for members of the NHS 1964 graduating class at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Jackson. The lady graduates were attir­ ed in muu muus and as the sen­ iors arrived they were greeted by Jill Jackson who presented each with a lei. In addition to the host couple, other chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wahlert, Mr. and Mrs. Art Colby. Other guests were Chick Quinowski, class adviser, and Mrs. Quinowski. The students were busy auto­ graphing annuals as first pres­ entation of the “Tupelos” was made at the Saturday evening party. On the menu were barbecued pork, a Hawaiian rice dish, fresh coconut, fresh pineapple and ba­ nanas, together with other tropi­ cal delicacies. Bowling Party Held Sunday Following commencement ex­ ercises on Sunday evening, tije seniors and their dates were guests at a bowling party given by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purcell, proprietors of the Sugar Bowl. Chaperoning the students were Mr. and Mrs. George Hust and Bill Mayden. For a small fee per couple, the seniors rolled the bowling balls down the Sugar Bowl lanes for a period of three hours. The host­ ing Purcells provided hambur­ gers, cake and soft drinks. The cake was decorated with a con­ gratulatory message to the NHS class of 1964. After the bowling party, the graduates and their guests went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. (Brig) Olsen where they were served breakfast at 3 o’clock in the morning. Mrs. Greenway, with the as­ sistance of Emma Moran, Betty Griffin, Linda Brown, Helen Ota- ni, Josie Kora and Helen Rucker, took fourth and fifth grade stu­ dents to the Parma park Friday afternoon for a wiener roast after school.
