4-H Sewing Club Organized Saturday
For Girls in Apple Valley Community

APPLE VALLEY —Mrs Zelda
Dailey, Mrs. Lorraine Klohr and
Mrs. Dolly Iiams organized a 4 H
sewing club last Saturday. The
meetings will be held at the LDS
ward in Parma. Next session will
be March 30 at 2 p m Mrs Klohr
will be hostess.
Seven members were present
on Saturday. Mrs. Iiams gave a
demonstration on grain perfection
of fabrics and explained the nec­
essity for it in clothing.
Mrs. Dailey discussed project
requirements and keeping o f
records. A question and answer
quiz was held at the close of the
class period.
Anyone 10 years of age or older
may join 4-H work and if inter­
ested should contact Mrs Dailey,
Mrs. Klohr or Mrs. Iiams.
Percy Booth and George Harris
represented the Apple Valley 4-H
club in a civic project at Cald­
well Saturday, March 9 They
worked on the new stadium
grounds. On March 16 they help­
ed with planting trees on the new
golf course. All work was donat­
ed and under direction of Grant
Hall, county agent. Percy and
George joined other 4-H club and
FFA boys from surrounding com­
munities in this work.
Take Trip to California
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Honey re­
turned home Saturday from a
four-week vacation in California.
After leaving home they stopped
first at Tonopah, Nev., and then
went on to Death Valley. At In­
dio, Calif., they spent four days
at the Date Fair and Festival.
Here they watched camel and os­
trich races and saw a thorough­
bred horse show. Going by way
of the Salton sea they went to
Yucca Valley and were overnight
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Miller
who moved away from Apple
Valley about a year ago. At Lind­
say, Calif., they visited other for­
mer Apple Valley friends, Mr.
and Mrs. Mike Evans. In Kings­
burg they spent several days with
her sister, Mr. and Mrs. George
Geesey and family. At Pollock
Pines they were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Bowen for four days.
They visited Mr. and Mrs. Don
Derryberry in Sacramento, then
spent a week in the Bud Wilson
home in El Sobrante. Here they
saw Lake Ivy and his brother,
Harry who was a school day
friend of Honey. While there,
they went deep sea fishing and
toured the C & H Sugar refinery
Starting back home, they stopped
at the Albert Bowen home m Pol­
lock Pines, again because of a
snowstorm. On Tahoe Pass they
encountered more snow and had
to wait for the road to be cleared
before coming home.
Fishermen Wreck Car
Jim Wilson, Larry Wilson and
Gordon Thompson went steelhead
fishing at Riggins over the week­
end. Enroute home they blew a
tire and wrecked their car on the
highway above Emmett.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Codr re­
cently moved onto the Atteberry
farm.
Jack Wilson and Ed Sells took
the Cub Scouts on a hike and
wiener roast near the Boise river
on Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Hannah Robinson moved
into her own home in Apple Val­
ley on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sauer of
Nampa were dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Dwight Seward one day
last week.
Mr. and Hrs. Heber Evans of
Malad, Ore., were March 12 all­
day guests of her brother and sis­
ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Price.
Visit in California
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boston, Mrs.
Bob Shippy of Weiser and Mrs.
Ralph Rogers of Nampa returned
Friday from a week’s trip to Cali­
fornia. Mrs. Rogers stopped at
Lancaster, Calif., to visit her
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Duffy and family. The other la­
dies continued on to Huntington
Beach, Calif., where they visited
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bolten and
sons. They report a very enjoy­
able trip, returning home via
Death Valley. They encountered
considerable snow and ice in the
mountains.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boston were
Saturday guests in the Dick Har­
ris home at Ontario. It was Da­
vid’s sixth birthday anniversary
and they helped him celebrate.
Lori Griffin broke both bones
in her left arm Sunday when she
fell from her bicycle.

Mrs. Jean Nordlund of Boise
was a Friday luncheon guest of
Mrs. James Leveaux. Mrs. Nord­
lund is making old-fashioned dolls
for souvenirs for the Idaho Cen­
tennial year. She makes the
