OREGON Alaska Tourists Visit With Nyssan, Report Activities Enroute io Homer By Mrs. Wilson Witt NEWELL HEIGHTS — Friends in Newell Heights recently re­ ceived word from the M. L. Kurtz rniinlp in Alnclra Tkoy hzd ed at Willow over July 4 and hap­ pened to meet Keith Rookstool of the Richland community south of Nyssa. He is a nephew of Frank Rookstool who used to live on and own part of the Leedy place. The Kurtz couple spent last weekend at Seward and attended Methodist church services. They later visited the Jesse Lee chil­ dren’s mission home. They had been eating fresh salmon and were slowly traveling to Homer. 'Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Farr re­ turned home Tuesday after a vacation trip to Los Angeles and other points of interest. They went to the Los Angeles LDS temple and saw the site of the new Oakland temple to be built. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Farr at San Jose, Disneyland and Marineland. On their return they stopped at Tillamook, Ore., over­ night to visit Mrs. Farr’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Montgomery who are there on a two-year LDS mission. Foursome Returns from Trip Mrs. Helen Butler, Pauline But­ ler and her grandmother, Mrs. Ada Butler, and Mick Hastriter left July 6 for Milwaukie, Ore., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Russell Coff­ man (nee Margaret Butler). They visited the Portland zoo and saw Packy, the baby elephant. They went on a picnic to Silver Creek falls, saw Peterson’s Rock gar­ dens, the state capitol at Salem and the Suttle Lake Resort area. They returned July 9 to their home. Mrs. Lydia Worden, Mrs. Elvin Worden and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Goodenough spent Sunday even- ing at the Irvin Dodison home in Ridgeview. Mrs. Helen Butler and Pauline, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Butler and Mick Hastriter visited July 1-2 with Mrs. Margaret Payne at her cottage near McCall, Idaho. Mrs. W. C. Van DeWater and Kent of Big Bend and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Van DeWater of Marion, Ind., were Friday evening visitors in the Wilson Witt home. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Carr and Christina Jo spent Saturday with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pratt. Eddy Sunday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church in Adrian. It was followed by a reception in the church basement. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Farr have a new granddaughter, born to Mr. and Mrs. Gale Allred of Ogden, Utah. She joins a brother and two sisters. This makes six grandchildren for Mr. and Mrs. Farr.
