Club Group Gives
Shower Honoring

Bud Brackenbrough of Portland
spent the weekend at the Leonard
Phillips home for some pheasant
hunting in this area. He is a cou­
sin of Mrs. Phillips.
Joe Rodriguez, who was injured
in a car accident several weeks
ago, returned last week to his
home where he has been employ­
ed by Orland Cheldelin. A son,
Ernest Rodriguez of Puerto Rico,
arrived last week for a visit.
Several from this community
attended the wedding reception
and dance at Owyhee LDS ward
Saturday evening honoring Mr.
and Mrs. Taylor Phillips.
Mrs. Orland Cheldelin attend­
ed garden club Tuesday at the
home of Mrr Judd in Adrian.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Orr of Rich­
land, Wash., were Saturday over­
night guests at the home of their
daughter, Mrs. Lester Cleaver and
family. They attended the wed­
ding reception and dance for their
granddaughter and husband, Mr.
and Mrs. Taylor Phillips. The
group was entertained at dinner
Sunday in the Lamar Orr home
in Sunset Valley. Other guests
were Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Orr,
Melanie and Dede of Mountain
home.
Robert Ritchie visited Friday
evening with Robert Heines who
was home on leave from his navy
station in California. He was here
visiting his mother and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. David Highland
and family of Wallowa were Sun­
day evening dinner guests in the
Silas Hoffman home.
Days Have Naw Baby
Mr. and Mrs. Silas Hoffman re­
cently accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Claude Day of Adrian to Califor­
nia. They visited in Susanville
at the home of Hoffman’s sister
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Wood. At Oakland they were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Day,
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stephen and
family, Silas Day and Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Stephen. The men
went deep-sea fishing and caught
several large fish. They assisted
in rescuing three Negroes whose
boat had sunk due to the rough
sea. The travelers returned
home Friday evening. Monday
morning they received word of
the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs.
Billy Day. Mrs. Day is the for­
mer Loretta Stephen who attend­
ed school in Nyssa.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Topliff and
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Topliff visit­
ed Sunday evening in the Dave
Beers home.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Burgess of
Sutherlin were Sunday evening
dinner guests in the LaVern
Cleaver home.

Hunters visiting at the Cleaver
homes are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Hatcher, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bur­
gess, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Hogan
and Debbra and Mr. and Mrs.
Bud Allen, all of Sutherlin, and
Mr. and Mrs. Oakie Real of Cot­
tage Grove.
Wayne Simpson and son, Klair,
Willy Stephen and Dennis Wilson
attended the Friday evening foot­
ball game in Vale.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Reffett and
Joan of Moses Lake, Wash., and
his mother, Mrs. John Reffett of
Sunset Valley, visited Wednesday
in the Loyd Adams home. Thurs­
day evening Mr. and Mrs. Adams
and Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Hill
and daughters joined the Reffetts
for dinner at the Reffett home in
Sunset Valley. The evening was
spent viewing home novies.
Theresa Tanner was a Sunday
dinner guest of Ellen Bessendor-
fer at Adrian.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Griffitts of
Nyssa were Sunday evening din­
ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Ritchie and Robert.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Neely,
Jr., and family of Nyssa were
Sunday evening dinner guests ol
her mother, Mrs. Edith Whipple
Kenneth and Leah. Edith Ann
Corfield had spent Saturday nighl
with her grandmother and re
turned Sunday to her home
Mrs Guy Tanner visited Sun­
day with her mother, Mrs. Jessie
Pearson in Emmett.
Mrs. James O. Stephen and
children of Burns and Mr and
Mrs. Jim Cowling of Bridal Veil
were weekend guests in the
James Stephen home.
