Five-day week to be observed by
Banks throughout State

banks in Oregon will observe a five-day banking
week, Monday through Friday. The new five-day

practice of banks nationally, and is virtually uni
versal in the Western states.
Additional hours of banking service on Fridays
or other week days will be provided by many of
of the undersigned banks to fit the needs of their
communities.
Perhaps the main consideration in establishing
a regular five-day week was the wishes of bank
employees. Under present conditions many fam-

impossible to spend their weekends together. Then, I
too, a system of staggered days off during the week
has made it difficult to maintain the continuity of
service you should expect.
In addition to extended Friday hours, such

speedy bank-from-your-car facilities, etc., are avail
