A Cappella Choir
To Appear Here
The a cappella choir of W hit­
w orth college, Spokane Wash.,
will present a special program at
the Nyssa M ethodist church at 8
p m. M arch 29
The choir, under the direction
of W ilbur L. Anders, has sung in
all m ajor cities of the west coast
and has been a featured choir on
national choral broadcasts.
The public is invited to attend.

Lillian Newby
Funeral Today
Services for Mrs. Lillian Maude
Newby, 85, who died here Mon­
day will be held today (Thursday)
at 2 p.m. in the LDS second w ard
chapel, under the direction of the
L ienkaem per chapel. Interm ent
will be in the Nyssa cem etery.
Mrs. Newby was born in Peni-
ston, Y orkshire, England, Nov. 10.
1871, and was m arried to Henry
Newby M arch 17, 1896, in Rigby,
Ida. Mr. Newby died in 1928.
She was one of the oldest m em ­
bers of the LDS church here and
superintendent of the first LDS
Sunday school, which she helped
establish in 1912.
Survivors include three sons,
Tom S. of Boise, George H., L ittle
Valley, Utah, and H arry Newby,
Richland, Ore., one daughter, Mrs.
Jan e Larsen, L ittle Valley, 13
grandchildren and 13 g reat-g ran d ­
children.

One of the top sporting events
to be held in N> ssa in recent
y ears is scheduled at the Nyssa
high school gym Saturday, March
30 at 8 p.m. w hen the in tern a­
tionally fam ed Red Heads, w orld’s
cham pion g irls’ basketball team
clash w ith th e Nyssa Eagles q u in ­
tet, a team th at tied for their
league cham pionship in the Wei-
ser City league.
The Nyssa L etterm en’s club is
sponsoring th e event with pro­
ceeds to be used for the purchase
of a m ovie cam era to be used for
ath letic activities. Such film will
be used to correct mistakes of
p articip atin g athlete in league
play and also for educational
projects.
T lu' Red Heads, which origin­
ated in 1936 have appeared be­
fore m ore than 5,000.000 fans and
h ave received “rav e" notices in
top slick m agazines in the eoun-
tiy .
Most of the girls are six feet
or m ore and soar on up to 6’5".
They play strictly by standard
m en rules w ith special features
such as com edy routines, foul
shooting exhibition, spinning and
juggling acts, etc.
