Traffic Hazard On First Street
We would like to see any member of the Oregon
Highway commission. Oregon Police force or Nyssa
City Police who can drive into the lane of traffic on Main
street from South First without having to hesitate or
break a traffic law. The time for any attempt at such a
traffic feat would have to be between the hours of 10
a m. and 5 p m. on a week day.
It’s almost as difficult to enter the line of traffic
from any other side street, but the underpass and its
high cement wall multiply traffic hazards on South
First. Spuds are being hauled to market now and
will be followed by sugar beets and other farm pro
ducts which are all of prime importance to the econ
omy of the community and the nation.
Most of the farm truck drivers are careful and
courteous, but a few tourists and local residents, eager
to get through town in record time, disregard the
speed limit and other safety factors, especially when
they come through the underpass.
Fact is \fce just don’t like to write bloody accident
stories.
