20 or 30 m illion years ago was
found recently by Mr. and Mrs
M aurice Corey, local am ateu r
geologists w ho collect bones and
fossils in addition to gems.
The odd-appearing bone was
discovered about three weeks ago
east of B urns and brought back
to Nyssa The bone had petrified
and show ed a split at the low er
end, indicating it was not from
any anim als nativ e to this p art of
the country in m odern times.
They sent th eir find to a collect­
or at R upert, Idaho, who id en ti­
fied it as a carnal, w hich he said
lived here long ago. S im ilar
bones have been found in the
A m erican Falls area in S outhern
Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Corey said.
