Mabel Brown Dies
At Home In Boise
A resident of eastern Oregon
and southwestern Idaho for the
last 33 years, Mrs. Mabel Brown,
56, formerly of Adrian, died Sat
urday night in her Boise home
after a long illness.
Mrs Brown was born at Borne
Center, Mich., on Sept. 24, 1897.
She was married May 12, 1920, to
Glen Brown and the couple m ov
ed to Nyssa in 1921. They oper
ated a grocery store in Nyssa un
til 1932. They moved to Boise in
1932 and then to Adrian in 1944.

grocery business.
Survivors are her husband,
Glen Brown of Adrian; one son,
Robert Brown of Boise; three
daughters, Mrs. Betty Concarr of
Boise, Mrs. Ruby Eastman of
Caldwell and Mrs. Jean Patrick of
Atwater, Calif., and three broth
ers, six sisters and four grand
children.

Services were conducted at the
Lienkaemper chapel Wednesday
at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Henry
Moore of Adrian officiating. In
terment was at Cloverdale with
services conducted by the Nyssa

set for Saturday, May 29 Mrs. A
L. Heldt. chairman of the sale,
to emphasise its importance to
disabled veterans, said that the
memorial floppies are made of
red crepe paper, by hand, by dis
abled veterans in hospitals and
poppy workrooms in 40 states and
that they receive pay for each
poppy made, the material being
furnished free.
Each year more than 25,000.000
poppies are made by the disabled
veterans and are sold under the
American Legion auxiliary su
pervision by 125.000 volunteer
workers who receive no compen
sation, Mrs. Heldt continued.
