Dec « —Mrs Lena Greeting and son, Merritt of Twin Falls visited at the Claude Day home Tuesday afternoon. The first preliminary dress meet ing of the A. K. H. and A. & B. units was held in the church basement Thursday. Miss Edna Mae Miller, county home demonstration agent, gave the lesson on making wool dresses. Mrs. Wayne Piercy and baby daughter returned home Sunday from the Ontario hospital. M r and Mrs. Bill Ratigan and family had Thanksgiving dinner at the George Lolly home in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schafer were in Caldwell on business Monday. Mrs. Herschal Thompson is in the the Malheur Memorial hospital, where she has undergone two opera tions. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Day and family were supper guests at the Howard Day home Sunday. Mrs. Ed Bassett has gone to Den- Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Ronald Day attended a birthday party for Fred Jensen Monday even ing. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Slagle and son and Mrs. Slagle's mother of Boise were supper guests at the Lynn Hurst home Sunday. Mrs. Carl Beams of Buhl, Idaho spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. W. E. Piercy, and family. Miss Justine and Larry Kreager, Kent Lovelace, Charlie Glenn and Miss Shirley and Dick Sparks were among those going to the game at Jordan Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown and Mr. and Mrs. George Lolly and son, Bruce, o f Boise were visitors at the Bill Ratigan home last week. Hershal Thompson and sons spent Friday evening at the A1 Thompson home in ‘Nyssa. Mrs. A1 Thompson attended a tea with Gary Thomp son at school that day. A fter the commission started shoveling snow In 1917 It cost $51,784 to clear the then 4317 miles of primary highways during the first seven years. Daring the winters of 1949 and 1950 It coat $1,884,710 to sweep off the 4805 miles of primary, plus $750,575 to clear the 2508 miles of secondary high ways; a grand total of $2,635,285. From 1917 to 1957 Inclusive the commission has spent approximately $7,455,228 to keep the highways open and travel moving during the winter months. Jane" Under the auspices of the Nyssa Chamher of Commerce and the Eagles lodge and will land at Fourth street and Bower avenue. This event will give young and old a chance io have a close-up view of a helicop ter and again hear the soft, vibrant voice of good old Si. Nicholas. From the helicopter, Santa Claus will go to the old gymnasium, where he will inter view all small children and give each child a treat.
