The precautions listed in the "pointers" are reported to have done much over a period of years to allay fear of the disease and their observ ance may have helped hold to a minimum the more severe after effects of polio in many instances. So it was on September 12. when the new officers of the various ex tension units gather for the officers’ training meeting at the armory in Ontario. Most all of the members had something new to learn. Mrs. Philip Keck, county commit tee chairman, presided at the meet ing. Miss Eleanor Trindle, state leader, explained the purpose of the day, the handbook and the parlia mentary procedure for conducting a good meeting. Miss Miller explained the program for the year. She stated that two meeting places were planned for the training of project leaders, one in Ontario and the other in Vale ,in order to reduce the distance some leaders have to travel for the meet ings. Miss Trindle installed three new officers of the newly formed On tario extension unit along with one county committee member. The home demonstration agent announced the first project leaders’ spent Sunday at the home of their son, Earl Winn. Little Bruce cele brated his birthday.
