Modern l*i»»neer (Unit Ha* Meeting NEWELL HEIGHTS, Aug 9—Mr and Mrs. Jake Borge have had as guests this past week, his lather, Paul Borge and brother, Albert Borge and family and June Turner all of Sacramento. The guests left Monday to return to Sacramento by way of Alturas, California. The Modern Pioneer club met at the home of Mrs. Dick Kriegh Tues day afternoon for a hobo picnic. Mrs. Jake Borge and her daughter, Kay, won the prizes of bandana handkerchiefs for the most eccent ric costumes. The next meeting will be held In the M. L dudd home. Carolyn Schiemer was the honor guest at a bridal shower given in the basement of the United Presby terian church Wednesday afternoon. The affair was sponsored by Mrs. C B Hill. Mrs. Stanley H1H, Mrs. M L. Judd. Mrs. Marlon Kurtz. Mrs. I.uit Stam, Mrs. John Timmerman. Mrs Earl Worden and Mrs. George Elfers. The shower was well a t tended by friends and relatives and Carolyn received many beautiful and useful gifts. Mr and Mrs. M L. Kurtz left Tuesday for La Grande to visit their son. Bill and family. They returned Thursday Mrs Ellen Smith and daughter of Needles, California, who have been visiting Mrs, Smith's parents, Mr and Mrs. Peter Jensen, and family for the past two weeks left last week to return to her home. Mr and Mrs Bob Haney and baby were week-end guests in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H Haney. Mrs Haney is re maining in the E.
