JULY 19. 1951 Boys O f Suntlay School Entertain NEWELL HEIGHTS, July 19—The boys of the intermediate Sunday school group of the United Presby terian church entertained the girls of the class at a swimming party at the Caldwell pool Wednesday after noon. Those attending from here were Mrs. M. L. Kurtz, Mrs. Vern Butler. Mrs. Hugh Glenn and Billy Pratt and Anita and Charlene, Gay and Eugene Harris and Karen Mc Kinley. The group piepicked in the Caldwell park after swimming Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith of American Falls, Idaho visited In the home of their daughter. Mrs. E. H. Haney and family last week. When they returned home Elaine Haney accompanied them Mr. and Mrs. Bob Haney of Prairie City were visitors in the home of their parents. Claudia Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Peterson accompan ied her aunt, Mrs. Aurelia Olson, to visit her grandmother. Mrs. Franz Brauer in Bountiful. Utah. Mrs. Olson had been visiting for two weeks In the James Peterson home. James Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Prank Pike, and Mr. and Mrs. Orant Patterson went to the L. D. S. temple In Idaho Palls Thursday and Friday. John Rouse and niece, Kate Gal- ligan of Hereford, and Janet and Joan Galliman of North Powder visited briefly in the Louis Pratt home Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Hill and in fant son of Prineville were week end visitors In the home of her father, Forest Hardman. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Borge and children were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hatch at the Gil bert cafe Monday evening, when Mr. Hatch was honored on his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Kurtz and Elaine. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Kurtz and Sheryl and Rev. and Mrs. Har old Kurtz left Tuesday morning for Payette lakes for a few days of fishing. A special meeting of the Adrian Farm Bureau center has been called for Friday evening at the agriculture building. Business to be discussed will Include plans for the Farm Bureau picnic. Birthday Party Is Given For Family COLUMBIA AVE., July 19—Mrs. All Hart of Nyssa spent Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Gerrit Stam. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Toombs of Adrian called in this community Monday afternoon. The pinochle club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Z. Davidson of Parma Thursday afternoon. Mrs. George Smit held high score, Mrs. Dick Groot second high and Mrs. Jake Groot low. Fred Koopman of Vale visited at the John Lackey home Sunday af ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Pete de Leeuw left Friday for Seattle to spend the week-end with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Groot of Apple Valley entertained Friday at an afternoon tea and lunch in ob servance of Mrs. Groot's birthday anniversary for the following rela tives: Mr. and Mrs. Jake Groot of Arcadia, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Groot, Mrs. Dick Stam and Klaas Stam of Oregon Trail, Mrs. Pete vd Oord, Mr and Mrs. Z. Davidson of Parma, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stam of Nyssa, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Miller of Arcadia and Mr. and Mrs. Luit Stam and Louis and Mr. and Mrs. John Tim merman of Newell Heights and Fred Koopman of Vale. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Jensen were in Joseph last week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Newbill of Newell Heights called in this com munity Saturday afternoon. Klaas Tensen was an Ontario vis itor last week. Henry van Twisk came from Mc- Dermitt Saturday to spend the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake van Twisk. Mrs. Dick Stam of Oregon Trail entertained the whist club at her home Sunday afternoon. Neil Tensen and Gary Bybee were among the boys who spent a few days in Yellowstone park. July 19 —Mrs. Eugene Cleaver was hostess to the Out-Our-Way club at her home Thursday afternoon with nine mem bers attending. Refreshments of salad, wafers and a drink were serv ed. Joyce and Brian Cleaver have been ill the past week. Mr. and Mrs. George Cleaver were in Ontario Thursday Mrs. Ethel Goodell and Leonard Goodell were Sunday dinner guests at the Leslie Topliff home. Mr and Mrs. George Cleaver. Mr. and Mrs. La Vern Cleaver and Mr and Mrs. Alva Goodell attended the Vale-Homedale ball game at Home- dale Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Topliff and Reta Mae were Sunday dinner guests at the Bob Goodell home near Caldwell. Sandra Day and Garnet Belle Ritchie attended a swimming party and picnic at Caldwell Monday. Mrs. Howard Day and Mrs. Jim Ritchie and Garnet Belle were din ner guests at the Claude Day home Monday. Mrs. Baer, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Pond are sisters. To Portland— Mr. and Mrs. Grant Rinehart and C. E. Leseberg went to Portland over the week-end on business.
