Oregon left Friday for Eagle Point to visit the Foster Swigert family They plan on going to the coast and on down into Cali fornia, where they will visit for several days. The Leroy and Harvey Bennett families and Erie Mausling went fishing at Halfway. Oregon, leaving Thursday and returning Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Itaney attended the rodeo at Vale the Fourth. Evelyn and Della Hollaway of Vancouver, Washington spent the week-end in the John Thomas home. Mr. and Mrs. Joe King took her brother. George, to Baker to visit Glamorettes And Homer To Appear On Kodeo Program The Glamorettes and Homer, who will appear on the Nyssa rodeo pro gram, have worked rodeos for the last three years from Canada to Texas. They have worked with such stars as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Hop-a-Long Cassidy and other movie personalities. Besides roceos, they have appeared at many fairs and theaters. Homer is considered one of the best trampoline clowns in the nation. He has worked his way through college by clowning during the sum mer. He substituted last year for another clown by working in the arena against brahma bulls. The Glamorettes, of Vancouver, do a snappy routine featuring tumb ling and trampoline, doing back- flips to shoulder catches on the trampoline. They finish by doing a triple rope trick, turning two large ropes while the girl in the middle does back-flips turning a small rope. Waste Ditch At Big Bend Cleaned BIG BEND. July 12—Ted Wells of Notus brought his machine in and cleaned out the waste ditch that was causing trouble near the Lee Stok er farm. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dickerson and small grandson, Richard Dickerson, of Culver, Oregon spent the after noon and evening of the Fourth with Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Newman of Nyssa were at Bill Van de Water’s home Sunday for dinner. Mrs. Fanny Armenta enjoyed a visit with Mrs. John Bishop and Rex Brumback, who were home over the week-end visiting their mother, Mrs. Mary Brumback, and brother, Ezra. Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and family visited her brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordie Dickerson, near Mountain Home Sunday. A. lodge meeting at the home of Mrs. Mable Noe in Wilder Mon day evening. Mrs. E. H. Brumbach entertained her children and grandchildren over the week-end in honor of her broth er, Thomas F. Phelan of Chicago, who is her house guest. Mr. and Mrs. John C. Bishop and children returned to their home in Rupert Monday morning, and Rex Brumbach and daughters. Dymna and Peggy, returned to Walla Walla Sunday evening. In reporting the figures, G. J. Mitchell, manager of the branon, also released comparable figures at the branch a year ago, June 30, 1950. On that date, deposits were $2,881,- 203 and loans $2.214.773. The fig ures were made available in line with First National’s policy of pub lishing its statement of condition quarterly. At the same time, the First Nat ional Bank of Portland and its 46 statewide banking offices reported that on June 30, 1951, deposits total led $503,641.846, loans $256,098,759 and resources $547,742,036. These $29.062,356 in resources. Furthermore, First National in creased its capital funds for the six- months period from $34,988,667 on December 30. 1950 to $36,066,643 on June 30 of this year. This represents a net gain in capital funds of $1.076.- 971 after paying dividends for the half of $600.000 and adding $300,000 out of earnings to the reserve for possible loan losses, Frank Belgrano.
