Earnings O f Bank
Reach $ 1 ,8 1 5 ,0 0 0
The earnings of The First Nation­
al Bank of Portland for the first
six months of 1950 were $1,815,000
as reported by President F. N. Bel-
grano, Jr. Pursuing the policy ad­
opted in 1949, *300,000 was added
to reserve for possible loan losses
from the current six months earn­
ings, making net earnings of $1,-
515,000.
Mr. Belgrano pointed to the fact
that during these six months, de­
posits of the bank had increased
*2,339,400.40 to a total *478.766.582.05.
He also pointed to the fact that
loans had reached an all time high
of *176,256,994 78, and that the in­
crease of *25,201,932.76 was greater

in any previous six months
period.
These figures are solely for The
First National Bank of Portland and
do not Include the 15 banks with 17
offices which are affiliated with this
institution. Deposits In the affiliat­
ed banks total *108,182,166.16 with
loans of *28.781,589.73 and total re­
sources of *115,775,111.87.
There are now 62 banking offices
in the First National bank group.
Before the end of the year two more
offices will be added, one at Spring-
field, Oregon, which will be a branch
of an affiliate, The First National
Bank of Eugene, and one which will
be known as the Industrial branch
of The First National Bank of Port­
land, will be located on the block
bounded by Northwest 18th and 19th
avenues and Northwest Raleigh and
Savier streets, Portland.
