The budget for the coming year, if finally approved at a public meeting to be held July 12, will amount to $59,094, as compared to $52,685 for this year. If the bond issue is approved, the fire station will be extended to the north for a distance of 18 feet and a second story will be erected. The ground space will be used for the new fire truck to be purchased by the Nyssa Rural Fire Protection district and the second floor will be used by the fire department. No date has been set for the bond election. The council authorized spraying of the town against elm beetle and other insects and placing a dust oiling coat on the unpaved streets. The two projects will be started this month. The Eder Hardware company asked for permission to erect a driveway acrass the sidewalk to its parking space alongside the store. The permit was granted. Judge Felton Duncan resigned as city Judge to take charge of the liquor commission agency at Nyssa. Fred Koopman, who has been in charge of the liquor store, will go to Vale the first of the month to make his home. Mrs. Ruby Moore has applied for the position of municipal judge, with the rec ommendation of the Nyssa safety council. The city council has taken no action to fill the vacancy. The council extended a vote of thanks to Judge Duncan for his services. The council received a letter from the Oregon state board of health asking the city to place the sewage disposal plant In operation again. Nyssa is reported to 'be a- buut the only city In the Lower Snake River valley that has made any exempt to properly dispose of .sewage. When replacement ma chinery is again available, the city intends to place the plant in op eration, city officials said. The plant has 'been out of operation for about a year. NYSSA AND ADRIAN BOATS WIN RACES Nyssa and Adrian residents won some important places in the Black Canyon boat regatta held near Em mett Sunday. In tlie class E outboard, 33 H. P. event Bob Webster of Adrian won first and Stanley Hill of Nyssa rural route won second. The race was run in two heats. Webster took third in the class F outboard, 50-60 H. P. race. The Nyssa boatmen also gave a drill during the regatta. The Nyssa Boat club regatta will be held on the Snake river July 10. The Nyssa boatmen have been asked to give their drill on Wallowa lake July 31. Tlie Adrian regatta will be held August 31.
