When the American Legion base ball team of Nyssa and Ontario were squaring away to tangle in a diamond fracas, rain begin to fall m a stiff breeze. With the strong wind blowing the rain against the hot bulbs on the south side of the field, something was certain to happen. So, Principal Patch of the high school jumped frdm his seat to turn off the lights. He said he traveled about 20 feet when the first bulb broke and when he reached for the switch on a light .pole two more bulbs exploded. The game was called because of darkness, but was played Wednes day night. Nyssa girls softball players met for their first practice Monday ev ening with 28 turning out. Sponsors hope two teams can be organized. Appropriate names will be selected and coaches, managers and captains will be elected soon accurdmg to Lauretta Tooinbs, who is organizing the girls. Franny Ford of the Boise Chicks, last year's northwest regional cham pions, gave the girls and spectators a demonstration of high class pitching and hitting.
