PAGE TWO SCHOOL BUILDING W E L L PLANNED Although faced with the need of a school expansion program, residents of the Nyssa school district are fortunate in having a build ing plan that will provide for future develop ment of school facilities in a systematic and ef fective manner. The program is the result of the skilled and efficient planning of the Nyssa school board, the school building committee and school officials, who have called upon some of the best authorities in the state for advice and guidance. The present plan, although more ambitious than the district can now afford in its entirety, is the culmination of months of re search. At the request of the school board, a com petent architect, particularly skilled in school building construction, drafted plans for a struc ture that would cost in its entirety $643,55»!, although at that ime the cost was not expected to run that high. The district now has more than $400,000 available for the structure, and needs another $108,000 to have sufficient funds with which to erect a basic structure, consist ing of several classrooms, including a library and large science room, a gymnasium and other rooms. Since the original bond issue of $350,000 was approved by voters about a year ugd, the bonding capacity of the district has been in creased by state law and a rise in the district’s assessed valuation. Even though the need for more money could have been fore seen, the additional $108,000 could not have been raised at that time because of the limited bonding capacity. The architect and school officials have so planned the' structure that new class rooms, manual arts shop, cafeteria, music department, kitchen and banquet loom can be added when money is available through regular budget channels, without resorting to another bond issue.
