George planted and tended 66 acres of small grain and pasture and six acres of corn and learned much about seed bed preparation, use of fertilizers and approved cultivating and harvest ing methods. George says he learned that it pays to rotate crops and plant adapted seed. He also ! found time to take part in many community activities and for three of his six years in 4-H, served as leader of his local chib. She also, in six years of club work, has completed 24 projects, making 30 garments, preparing and serv ing 29 meals with 55 separate dishes, and cultivating 36,000 square feet of garden. She has held every office in her local club, and is now a leader. Betty was provided an all-expense trip to the National 4-H Club Congress, Chi cago, by the Kerr Glass Mfg. Corp. as recognition for her outstand ing achievements. The practice of best persona! health habits and aid to home and community health service has won Margie Meier, 15, of Hillsboro, State honors in the 1948 National 4-H Health Improvement program. Charles has accomplished much In 4-H safety work such as studying and practicing safety on the highway, taking special precautions when handling electric installations and using safety measures in operat ing farm machinery. He has given demonstrations on p e d e s t r ia n safety, repr Ing an electric cord, safety with a cutting tool and making a first aid kit. In addition, he has found time to serve as leader of two different safety clubs.
