Persons who desire permanent positions at Adrian, will have an opportunity to take a civil service examination leading to probatlonal appointment with permanent clas sified civil service status. No specific experience or edu cation is required, but applicants must take a written examination, which Includes a sorting test, gen eral test, and a following instruct ions test. Applicants must act ually reside within the delivery of the post office for which examin ed, or be bona fide patrons of such office. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 50, ex cept that these age limits may be waived for veterans and under cer tain conditions for war service in- leflnite employes. Further information on this ex amination and the necessary ap plication forms may be obtained from the postmaster at Adrian, or from the director, Eleventh U. 8. civil service region, room 4, Central building, Seattle 4, Washington. This examination will be held at Caldwell, November 20, at 8:30 a. m. in singing the national 4-H song, "Dreaming", the following program was given: Talk by Mrs. Elliot on 4-H camps and work; reading on the 4-H goal, Erma Orris; song, "America”, Connie Ball, Onna Pounds and Brenda Myers, ac companied by Maryline Myers; reading on sportsmanship, Lois Wilson; reading on courtesy, Jean Social Notes -8 — WOMEN S SOCIETY MEETS The women’s society of the Methodist church met last Thurs day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Hugh Tobler. Mrs. Walter Mc Partland presided over the business meeting. The group voted to furn ish a bedspread for the hospital. Mrs. Hugh Tobler announced plans for the cook food sale to be held on Saturday, November 6 at the Nyssa Reality office. Mrs. Tobler will be assisted by Mrs. Joe Ewer, Mrs. E. H. Fleshman and Mrs. David Beers. Mrs. Kinsey Keveren led the de votions, using for a theme the hymn, "The Church’s One Found ation.” She spoke of the for mation o í the early church and the spread of Christianity through out Europe. Mrs. Donald Camp bell was tthe speaker for the af ternoon on the subject of the World Council of Churches. Mrs. Campbell traced the World Coun cil of Churches from 1886, when |t was first organized down to the Amsterdam meeting held in August of 1948. Following the meeting, refresh ments in keeping with the Hal lowe’en season were served by Mrs. Hugh Tobler, assisted by Mrs-Lloyd Tobler and Mrs. H. G. Holmes. A scavanger hunt and dance provided the enter tainment. Refreshments of dough nuts and cider were served by Mrs Bernard Frost. Mrs. Jesse Rigney and Mrs. O. E. Cheldelin.
