Funeral services will be held Sun day at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church, with Rev. H. J. G ernhardt officiating. The war veterans of Nyssa will have charge of grave services. Mr. Ray was born October 14, 1922 in Nyssa and lived here until he finished high school in 1940. He enlisted in the marines in 1942, was called into the service in July, 1943, received his commission as a second lieutenant in October, 1944, and went overseas in Novem ber, 1944. Ray was graduated from the University of Oregon in 1943, finishing his course in physical education in three years. He was killed March 4, 1945, Ray was an outstanding athlete in high school and college. A dor- matory at the University of Oregon has been named S tan Ray hall in his honor. Ray is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Ray of Baker; a sister, Mrs. Robert Ellis of Bak er, and his grandmother, Mrs. Stella Butler of Nyssa. GOOD TURN-OUT OF BASEBALL PLAYERS SUNDAY REPORTED A satisfactory turn-out of pros pective candidates for the Nyssa baseball teem entered in the Idaho- Oregon league, numbering about 20 men, reported for practice last Sunday. The group included four or five new players in addition to last year's squad. Larry Susee and Glenn Hoffman treie among the pitchers who turned out for prac tice Sunday. The squad expects to practice three times a week. The first game will be played with Vale May 16.
