NYSSA STUDENTS
PARTICIPATE IN
SPEECH CLINIC
The first annual Snake River
valley speech clinic, sponsored by
the S-R.V. Schoolmasters club, was
held at Fruitland last Wednesday,
March 31, with seven high schools
participating.
The morning was devoted to va­
rious types o i sipeech activities, with
entries in original oratory, poetry
reading, panel discussion, imperson­
ations, choral reading, humorous
reading, radio speaking, and dra­
matic readings. In the afternoon,
one-aot plays were presented by
Emmett, Nyssa, WeLser and Fruit-
land. Following the plays, a ma­
tinee dance was held for all par­
ticipants in the gymnasium.
The evening program consisted
of the numbers which had been
selected by the critic judges during
the day. Critic Judges were from
the college of Idaho, and Boise

Twenty-six Nyssa speech students
with their teacher, Mrs. Harriett
Brumbach, were in attendance.
Local students who were chosen by
the judges to participate in the
evening program were Carol Flin­
ders in ver^e reading, Kay Chris-
ensen and Bob Wilder in Imper­
sonations, and the 18 Nyssa mem­
bers of the verse-speaking choir,
reading* The Mountain Wiiippor-
will” and "Prayer to St. Catherine”,
under the direction of Donna Gar­
ner.
4-H SCHOLARSHIP
AW ARDS IN ADRIAN
AREA ANNOUNCED
Mrs. Threlma Elliot of Adrian
has announced the winners of tne
scholarships for the 4-H summer
school at Corvallis, which are aw­
arded eaoh year to the outstand­
ing boy and girl in 4-H club work.
At a recent meeting of the lead­
ers of the 4-H clubs of the Adrian
community, Myrna Lane and Lester
Auker were chosen as the recipients
of the 1918 awards. The alternates
chosen were Justine Kreager and
Bob Webb.
The Kingman Kolony Grange has
awarded a scholarsip to the sev­
enth and eigh'h grade health clubs.
This scholarship gies to Shirley
Sparks, with Marvin Bowers as
alternate. These young people will
receive their expenses for the an-
nal 4- Hsummer school held at
Corvallis in June.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Olsen have
had as their guests for the past
few days, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Se­
well of Hillsboro, Oregon. Mr. and
Mrs. Sewell visited here on their
way to Las Angeles.
