Potato Support
Prices Listed
The schedule o f support prices
for the 1947 potato crop in effect
for Malheur county ranges from
$2.10 per hundredweight for July
to $2.90 for January, 1948 and the
remainder of the marketing season,
according to Glen L. Hutchinson,
chairman of the county A A A com
mittee. These prices are for U.S.
No. 1 potatoes, sacked and loaded
in carloads. In order to determine
net price to the farmer 65c per
hundredweight should be deducted
from this schedule of prices. Prices
are somewhat higher than those
>f previous years because of higher
storage costs and to assure farmers
an average support price of 90 per
cent of the July 1 parity. In order
to be eligible for support prices,
farmers must have stayed within
their acreage goals and must pay
a fee of $1.60 per acre to secure
a certificate of eligibility before
September I. which Is the deadline
iate. Application for the certificate
.•an be made at the A A A office in
-he city hall, Ontario. Mr Hutch
inson added that the $1.60 per acre
for long season.
