MR. FARM ER
Oregon, U. S. A.
Dear Mr. Farmer:
Jn
W H A T IS D. D. T.?.... The chemical name for D. D. T. is Dichlore Diphenyl
Trichlorethane. Is there any wonder that we call it DDT?
You have heard so much about D. D. T. being a miracle killer. Most that you
have heard has left you confused. The products and their use that you have heard
about so far have been confusing and disappointing.
W e wanted to write you this letter to tell you a little about D. D. T. and about
the Fly Sprays containing D. D. T. that we have this year for your service and to
meet your needs for fly control.
D. D. T. is truly a miracle killer of flies and other insects, if it is correctly pro
cessed into a high quality product and L used correctly. That is why many of the
products you have used or heard about sj far have been disappointing. To under
stand its correct use, you must understand how it* acts to kill
D. D. T. kills flies and other insects in two ways— by paralyzing the nervous
system and also as a stomach poison. To kill flies then, they must come in contact
with D. D. T.
Many questions had to be learned about D. D. T. before a sound program could
be developed for its proper use. Such questions as: Can it be used safely on live
stock? How strong a mixture should be used for best results? How often should
they be treated? Can it be used safely and effectively in the home? These and
many other questions have been answered thru an extensive research program con
ducted by Purina Mills.
As a result o f this research, Purina Mills have developed a sound, practical,
economical program for fly control using D. D. T. This program includes a line of
high quality D. I). T. products with definite recommendations how to use them e f
fectively and economically. It is a program to control horn flies, house flies and
stable flies. W e are the agent for the Pu ina line of D. D. T. Fly Spray products.
It can be said that our fly problem U everywhere. However, we consider our
chief problem to be flies on livestock (either on range or in the barns), flies on
farm buildings (the dairy barn, horse stalls, hog house and poultry house), and
flies in the home.
The R IG H T D. D. T. Fly Spray can control this fly problem for you. That’s
the kind o f products we have. A D. D. T. Spray that is tops in performance and
economical to » e .
There are many questions about D. D. T. W e won t attempt to answer them in
this letter. However, if you will come by the store, we will be glad to discuss any
question you might have on D. D. T. W e have a complete line o f high quality
D. D. T. sprays. Sprays made right, to give you fly control at a very low cost.
Regardless o f whether you have trouble with flies on livestock, in your bams
or poultry houses, or in the home, we have the Purina D. D. T. Spray you want and
need. So the next time you are in town, why not drop by the store and let us tell
you more about our D. D. T. Sprays and answer some o f the questions we know you
must have in mind about D. D. T. W e r
> e accepting bookings now for early deliv
ery o f any D. D. T. Flv Spray you will n^ed this next fly season.
W e will be more than happy to serve you.
Sincerely,
A1 Thompson & Son
