Deffen- ' baugh recently heard from then eon, Joe E, Oeffenbaugh, who is a Japanese prisoner. He is still in the Philippines. This message was the first Mr. and Mrs. Deffen- baugh have received from their son in nine months. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Hall have gone to western and southern Oregon. They are interested in buying land there. Everett Each us, W. W. Deffen- baugh's nephew, who has been, honorably discharged from thej army, visited here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Piercy and Arline recently accompanied K. I Peterson and family to Buhl Idaho, where they visited relatives. The Hugh McConnell family and Naomi Shaw were Sunday visitors at the Jim Langley home at Sun set Valley. Prank Cummins’ parents are vis iting at the Cummins home. Miss Donna Peterman was a Sun day dinner guest uf Myrna Lane. C. W. Wilson and Mr and Mrs Arthur Case were in Nampa Fri day on business. LEND I HAND; NEIGHBOR, IN THE I biggest clearing job in the world ! Adrian Mr. Coleman, principal-elect at Adr ian high school, spent Wednes day here. Mrs. Henry Reuter and daughter arrived in Adrian last week. The Reuters are living in one of the Dan Holly houses. Miss Gloria Pounds spent part of last week visiting in Vale. Mrs. Betty Korman has gone to Boise for a two-weeks visit. Mrs. Robert Glenn and Mrs. Helen Littlefield and daughter of Denver were visitors at the Patch home for two days last week. The pupils of the daily vaca tion Bible school completed two weeks of work with a program Friday night. The program was held at the high school building with a large number of parents and friends present. Each depart ment presented numbers. Some al cohol education pictures were shown by Bernard Frost of the Idaho Power company. Refreshments were f'.rved by the Mary and Martha society. Teachers 4n the Bible school were Rev. and Mrs. Nevln, Mrs. Hite, Mrs. Witty and Caroline Schiemer. The D. W. Patch family visited friends and relatives in Welser Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Bob Ball and children of Boise visited at the C. A. Brown home from Monday until Wednes day. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Holly and Ted and Miss Gloria Pounds attended the recital presented by Miss Huff man’s pupils in Nyssa Friday. Ted Holly, pupil of Miss Wllhel- mlna Hoffman, will play two num bers at her recital to be held in Parma Friday evening, June 1. Mrs. Threlma Elliott entertained Mrs. Lois Cartwright, Miss Ethel Case, Mrs. Mildred Hite and Mar jorie Hite at dinner Suturday ev ening. Mrs. W. H. Bunch and children returned last week from a two- weeks stay at the home of Mrs. Bunch's son and daughter-in-law, The May meeting of the Kingman and infant daughter in Washington. The May meeting of the King- man Kolony P. T. A. was held in conjunction with the 4-H style show held Tuesday evening. Mrs. Newblll iipoke on "Policies of the P. T. A.” and Mrs. William Toomb sang a solo. Mrs. Warwick, the new president, announced committee chairmen. The "No-Name" club met Friday evening May 18, at the Legion hall for a pot luck dinner and initiation service. New members initiated in to the group were Mrs. Elmer Sparks ntid Mrs. William Looney. The club gave a dance Saturday evening. May 19. at the Legion hall. The hall was decorated with red, white, and blue streamers. The music was furnished by Babe Hart's orchestra. The club gave $65 from the dance proceeds to the war memorial fund. Miss May Jackson, niece of Mrs. Reiman, is visiting at the Reiman home. Mrs. Vernon Parker and child ren are visiting for a few days at the Hatt home in Owyhee dis trict. The ’’Jolly Janes" cdub enter tained Sunday at a shower for Mrs. Elbert Hatch. Ouests met at the Howard Hatch home at 1 o'clock for a pot luck dinner. The after noon was spent in visiting. Quarterly meeting was held Sat urday evening and Sunday at the Free Methodist church Rev. Rice of Spokane, delivered special mes sages at the service«. Reception of members and a baptismal service were held Sunday morning Mem bers of the congregation and their families met at the Freel home for a dinner following the chureh service Members of the young peoples group met for an informal get-to gether following tfie "Rural Life Sunday" service at the Reiman home.
