A benefit dance was plan ned for Sept 25. Proceds will go in to Christmas packages for boys who are still in the states. Silas Hoffman met with the group and aranged to build tables, cup board and counter in the hall in the near future. Miss Lillian Gregg of Portland is visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs Annie Gregg. Mr Randolph of Iowa is visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs Lew McCoy. Adolph Schneider left Saturday for Hebron. North Dakota to attend to business and visit relatives. He will be gone three or four weeks. Ace R. Roberts Jr. made a short visit last week at the home of his parents, due to the illness of his father. He is in the navy. No word had been received from him for four months until a message came early last week stating that her had arrived in San Diego. William Buffington left Wednes day for Savannah, Missouri, where he will receive medical treatment at the Doctor Nichols sanitarium. Mr and Mrs Ora Newgen of Wil der and Mrs Richardson of Parma were dinner guests at the L. E Newgen home Sunday. Mrs Walter Spyder and family of Broken Bow, Nebraska arrived Friday at the home of their daugh ter, Mrs Grover Cooper. The Snyder family will make their home in Par ma. Mrs Cooper's sister, Miss Doris Snyder of Phoenlz Arizona, is also visiting here but will go to Salt Lake City in a few weeks to work. Paul Ransom was in Nyssa a few days last week from Santa Monica. Calif, and closed the sale of his 80 acre farm to W. A. Bytoee, who had the land rented this year. The con sideration of the sale was *6000. Lurelle Berg am is much improved and It is thought he will be able to be up in another week. He was rec ently Injured. Mrs Eldon McGarvln and young son of Hood River arrived here Fri day for an indefinite stay at the home of her father, Adolp Schnei der. A farwell party was given at the Cow hollow hall Wednesday night for Melvin Pardarvis, who left for army training at Fort Douglas. John Reffett attended to business in Boise Tuesday. Mr and Mrs J. A. Black and Mrs John Reffet attended the 'sale in Ontario Wednesday. The Ditty and Htllis men caught a coyote in the field Friday noon Just below Manon Hlllis' house. Mrs Albert Notheis has returned from a visit to southern California. She visited her son, Bud. who is stationed at Santa Ana. The family held a reunion at Los Angeles, wh ich her father, from 8. Dakota, att ended. Mr and Mrs Wallace Oregg and children^ and Mrs Klingback and Fred, all of Owyhee, and Miss Lill ian Oregg of Portland who is visit ing here were guests at the home of Mrs Annie Gregg Sunday. Mr and Mrs J. A. Black motored to Nampa Tuesday Miss Lola Roo ks tool of Buena Vista and Stanley Reffett were guests at the Newgen home Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Lee Barrett and baby. Helen Jane, of Boise visited Sunday at the home of Mrs Barr ett's sister, Mrs Orover Cooper. Little Barbara and John, who have been at the Cooper home the past five weeks, returned home with the ir parents. Mr and Mrs Leon Buffington sh opped in Ontario Wednesday. The Chalk Butte Grange enter tained the public Tuesday evening at a booster macting with a prog ram consisting of skits, readings and singing and several Interesting talks. After the program the large crowd was served ice cream an cake Rev. Joseph Jaurez, holding ser vice at the Mexican labor camp, gave the message at the Assembly of Ood church Sunday morning. Mr and Mrs I. L. Smith of Oregon Trail called at the Walter Hlllis home Sunday Oregon Trail The Merry Matrons club met at the home of Agnes Knowles Wedne sday afternoon September 8 with Margaret Douglas as co-hostess The afternoon was spent cutting out Red Cron slippers.
