Krlner of Payette was present at the Lincoln Heights Sunday school service Sunday morning. Following services Mr. and Mrs. Krlner and family were dinner guests at the Ralph Barnes home. Mrs. Verdo Harris, who has been visiting at the home of her par ents. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Nielson, left Saturday evening via train for Pendleton, to be with her husband who Is stationed in the air corps there. Workers have been graveling roads in this vicinity when weath er permitted and are now gravel- ing Malheur drive. Several farmers were unprepared for the snow storm as they have corn to pick. There are also a feu- beets to dig. Ida Nelson visited at the R. L. Krlner home In Payette part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Farley shop ped In Payette Monday and also visited at the R. L. Council Holds Meeting— The ladies council of the Chris tian church met this afternoon at the home of Mrs Shoupe. Sailor Leaves— Herman Joe Counsil of Nyssa left Monday for San Diego, where he is stationed with the navy. Mr. Counsil. who has been visiting his parents here, is a 3rd class store keeper. Conducts Bible S tu d y - Rev. H. N. Waddell of the Christ ian ohuroh is conducting a Bible study at the Elmer Hill home each Wednesday evening at 7:30. Fire Damages House— A residence owned by Mr and Mrs L. P. Thomas on south Fourth street was damaged by fire Tues day afternoon. The house is occu pied by the Kenneth Mace family. The damage caused by the fire was slight. Firemen caused some dam age to the roof and a partition in reaching the blaze. Cox. former Ontario postma ster, has been appointed acting postmaster, according to informa tion received here. Her appointment will hold during the period nece ssary to hold axanilnaticns and ap point a successor to Mr. Cox. Photographer Visits— Amos Berg of Portland, well kn- I own photographer of the National Geographic magazine, spent o n e' day last week in Ontario as a guest of Mrs Florence Dorman. Mr. Berg's pictures taken during the dedicat ion of the Owyhee dam were pub lished in the Natl nal Geographic. He will leave Portland In January on a trip to South America in the interests of the Smithsonian insti tute. Post Office Open— The Nyssa post office will be kept open all day the next two Satur days because of the Christmas rush, Postmaster S. D. Goshert announ ced. The post office has been closed at 1 P. M. Saturdays, but will be kept open until 6 p. m. December 12 and 19. Captain's Wife Visits— Mrs Royce Cole is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs J. L. Church. Mrs Cole went to Boise last Thursday to meet her husband. Captain Cole, who spent a few days at Gowen field. Returns From Visit— Mrs Don Graham returned home Tuesday night from a visit with her husband and her sen, Raymond Graham, who are serving in the United States navy. She went to Seattle to visit her husband, who was sent overseas December 2. Af ter leaving Seattle she went to Santa Monica. California. Enroute to California Mrs Graham met her daughter-in-law, Mrs Raymond Graham, and they visited for a few days with Raymond Graham, who sailed for an overseas destination December 6.
