PAGE FOUR Arcadia * • There were 33 persent as Sunday school and church Sunday. Rev. McCombe of Ontario delivered a message at 9:45. Sunday school was at 10:45. Next Sunday Sun day school will be held at 10 a. m Wilmar Hipp was operated on last week in the Holy Rosary hos pital for removal of his appendix. He is recovering satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Denver Lay and son and Mr. Lay's father left last week for Okanogan. Washington, to make their home. G. F. Garren accompanied them as far as Walla Walla, where he will visit an uncle. Mrs. Lester Jamison returned last week from Grenville, Utah, where she spent a week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hipp of Boise visited at the Bill Hipp home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hull of Vale were dinner guests Sunday at the Ellis Warner home. Miss Evelyn Zittercah returned Friday to Oregon State college af ter a two weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Zittercah. Miss iZt- tercah is a junior at Oregon State. Miss Anna Dull received a V- mail letter from her son, Harold, Who is in Australia, last week. He says he is all right. The Arcadia Sunshine club met September 17th at the school aud itorium. Seventeen were present. The next meeting will be held October 1 at the school auditorium. Te club and school are rasing mon ey for a hot lunch program. The school will give a play soon and the proceeds will go to the lunch program. The club is going to sell a quilt for the lunch benefit. Re freshments were served by the hostesses, Lillian Snader and Esther Huiter. Mrs. Anna Duil spent Sunday with Mrs. Theo Matherly. Mr. and Mrs. John Snow of Nyssa were dinner guests last week at the George Mollen home. ^Lincoln Heights The Patch and Chat club met at the Flossie Beacham home Thurs day afternoon. A representative of the Idaho Power Company was present and gave a demonstration on how to roast meat. Rev. M. H. Greenlee delivered an interesting message to the Lin coln Sunday school at 2 p. m. Sun day school was held after the church service. Mr and Mrs Bob Degross have returned from Suplee, Oregon, where Mr Degross was employed as forest guard during the summer months. Mrs Degross is spending several day at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Lee Smith, and with other relatives. Leonard Goodell, who is station ed in the armed service in Calif ornia, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr and Mrs L. E. Goodell, Wayne Harris of Corvallis visited his mother, Mrs Annie Harris, and also other relatives during the past week. Mr and Mrs Avery Anderson and family were dinner guests at the George Markham home Sunday evening. The Anderson family will move to Seattle soon. A reception was held at the school house Friday evening honor ing the teachers, Mrs Oaks and Mrs Weaver. Several talks were given by various patrons of the school district. Watermelon and Cantaloupe were served. Charles Stanberry is completing a well for Jule Houston. Wayne Morris, recent star of “ I Wanted Wings,” became a member of Uncle Sam’s Navy in May, 1941, when he was appointed to the rank of Ensign.
