THE NYSSA GATE CITY JOURNAL PAGE EIGHT ENTERTAIN CLUB Mrs. Bernard Frost entertained the members of the Tuesday night club at her home this week. Mrs O. J. Mitchell was a *u?st. These having high scores were Mrs. A. H. Boydell and Mrs. Mitchell. WORK OF WOMEN THEME OF METHODIST MEETING The Women s Society of Christ ian Service met April 23 at the Methodist church. The theme of ths meeting was "The Work of the Women In the City Church". Mrs. W W Foster presided over the business meet ing. Mrs. C. A. Abbott conducted a service of remembrance In hon or of the pioneer women of the organization. Mrs. F V. Hershey, Mrs. Russell Cochrun, Mrs. A. V. Pruyn, and Mrs Dale Osborne spokjfc on the topic "The Work of the Women in the City Church". Mrs. M. H. Oreenlee conducted a open forum on the “Work in the Nyssa Methodist Church." Mrs. L. E. Robbins led in two sengs. Mrs. F. E. Lomax closed the program with a devotional number. Re freshments were served by Mrs. Wesley Sherman, Mrs. Henry Hartley, Mrs. Charles Garrison. Mrs. Walter Fox, Mrs. Russell Cochrun, Mrs. G. E. Bertsch and Mrs. Leno Christensen. -§ ~ Thursday night. Ouests were Dr. and Mrs. J. J. Sarazin. Prizes were won by Mrs. A C. Billings cl Ny-sa, who have returned from Portland. where they attended a meeting of -the O r e g o n Tuberculosis association, reported that in Oregon this year seal sales 1 amounted to $101,267.89 All of the experts gave assurance that the money will b* needed to light an increase in tuberculosis this year. The disease Is increasing as it always does during wartime. The money will be spent in fighting tuberculosis cases, making x-rays and conducting clinics and for education, particularly nutri tion as good health and good nu trition aid in reducing tuberculosis, Mrs. Billings said. Mr. Patch, president of the Mal- heur County Public Health asso ciation, spoke Thursday at the meeting on county activities for the last year. Mrs. Billings talked Friday on modem methods of handling Christmas seals. Thirty-one counties were repre sented at the meeting, which was held Thursday and Friday.
