Our spring rains hasm.' quite t ’ i u^ t„ p :r tu t now iha. the .vater .» i i the an-1 again ae •vont worry. The ground is getting prsfty dry. Most of the beets will have to be Irrigated up. Paul Ran- son plowed his beet ground last fall and put his beets In early this spring. He never once thought of havelng to water them up and never corrigated as he planted. Now the wind has blowed his planter markp out and he cant see where to put corrlgates. Paul sure would like to see a good rain. Most every one of us has some particular field th at we are anx ious to get the water on. Our hay fields are all getting dry and the new seeding Just seeded last fall are partlculary dry. The seep water that has run down the Hollow all winter has been worth a lot to Russle Howell and Elza Nlccum. They both have watered their stock from it all winter. Dur ing the cold weather it froze Into the ground and never got farther than the bridge a t Frank Parkers but there was a small pond in the drain on Elza’s place and it held his stock over untlll the thaw or almost untlll. He had to water his stock otherwise for about a week. Jonnie Hair.mllton bought an overshot hay stacker the other day. The deal was a sort of a “Plg- ln-a-poke” affair. Jonnie and Roy Rooklstool got togather last year. They used the buckrake with a borrowed ‘Morman' derrick. They liked the buckrake fine but wanted an overshot derrick to work with It. Getting new farm equipment Minnesota to Portland stopped enroute for a visit with Mr. Ald ridge's sister, Mrs. Charles Brad ley. Mrs. George Neln and daughter, Father, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Skinner Sunday. George Neln shipped a car of cattle FYiday. Callers at the William Peutz home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Simpson of the Oregon Trail district and Mr. Blockier of On tario. Friends gathered at the Kllng back home FYiday evening for a farewell party for George Gregg, who Is soon to enter army service. Mrs. Charlott Kygar and Mrs, Mildred Hite attended the meet ing of the county council in Ad rian Saturday afternoon. The Owyhee baseball team was defeated at the Owyhee school house FYiday afternoon by the Oregon Trail team. We Fix FENDERS! PR U Y N ’S G A R A G E Democratic Candidate for Kingman Kolony The Home Economics club of the Kingman Grange met at the home of Mrs. FYancis Deffer in Adrian Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Lee Thrasher, Mrs. Wesley Piercy and Mrs. Conrad Martin attended from the Kolony. The Mary and Martha circle met at the home of Mrs. Raymond Holton Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Merrle M. Freeling as as sistant hostess. Mrs. Dennis Patch of Adrian led devotionals and Mrs. Frank de Lespinnasee review ed the lesson. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Marlon L. Kurtz of Newell Heights. The Pollyanna club met at the home of Mrs. Herbert Shaw Wed nesday afternoon. The club voted to subscribe to the Nyssa Gate now is almost out of the picture so they have been looking for a used derrick. Jonnie met a man in Ontario who owns a derrick over beyond Harper. The man says the derrick has all the irons but needs some new timbers in it. Allready a bunch of us are plan ning how we can borrow It. Our famous portable derrick Is just about shot. Kay Hunter has a lame back. He was shoveling out a road cros sing in a ditch and just got the wrong twist in his back. It is mighty easy to do that but pret ty hard to undo. Our little Frankie our Frankie Is a girl) gave us a scare Satur day nlte. About eight oclock she began to have a severe pain in her tummy. Of course the first thing we thought of was appendicitis. At first she would have those spasms of pain about an hour apart and they kept getting more frequent. About eleven oclocl^ she began vomiting and us to be more scared. The spasms of pain and vomiting kept getting closer togather. By one thirty we gave up and de cided to take her to a doctor. As our old 'jelopia' cant see In the dark, we went over and called Mrs. Gabriel out to take the child to the Ontario hospital and to get a doctor. By three oclock we had her there and her pain was all gone and she was sleeping nice ly. The good night nurses gave her a inspection and could find nothing rong with her so we brought her home and we all went to bed. Next day we tried to figure it out but It dont make sense. The day before had been a big day for her including a trip to the garden and filling up on green onions, an extended trip over the sagebrush looking for flowers and following daddy around over the field. We re membered that after she returned from her sagebrush trip she car ried around the house a pretty little tree she had found, which proved to be a stalk of wild par snip. Her suffering possibly was polsntng from that wild parsnip. Arcadia HEALTH FOR YOU • B o r n a n d raUod on Klamath county farm • Graduated from Oregon State collage • Parmer, former n.ws- paperman.
