A large crowd attended the P.-T.
A. meeting held at the school house
Thursday evening. Mrs. Hite gave a
report on the work so far done on
the hot lunch project. Mr. Heuser,
in the county and presented pins to
4H leader, gave a talk on the work
those completing their projects. Sev­
eral songs were given by the girls in
the Owyhee Canning club, whose
leader was Mrs. Blanch Hite. Leader
pins were awarded to Messrs. Otto
Wolf, G. L. McMillan and Jess
Gregg. Mrs. Roy Warren was also
leader whose pin had been previous­
ly awarded. It was voted to hold the
regular meetings of P.-T. A. on the
second Thursday of the month in­
stead of the second Friday as had
previously been the date. The change
of date being because many enter­
tainments in connection with the
high school came on Friday even­
ings.
A surprise party was given for the
Ray Franklin family on Friday
evening where a crowd of over 75
were present. The Franklins have
purchased a ranch about six miles
east of Parma.
The time was spent in games, mu­
sic and visiting after which cake
and coffee topped off a pleasant
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hite and family
moved last week to the Anna Glas-
cock ranch which they will farm the
coming season.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard McIntosh
of Prairie City spent several days
last week as guests of the Ray
Frankins Tuesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bradley at­
tended the funeral of Mr. Suther­
land in Vale Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crocker en­
tertained at dinner Sunday for Mr.
and Mrs. La Grande of Nyssa.
John Liddle of Succor Creek was
a weekend guest of his brother, Jim
Liddle.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ator of On­
tario were Sunday guests of the
Ray Franklins.
Mrs. S. D. Bigelow received a tele­
gram Friday evening telling of the
sudden death of her sister, Mrs. Lou
Sastman, who was visiting her
daughter, Mrs. Elsie Greenup at
Winlock, Washington. Mrs. Eastman
was a former resident of our com­
munity.

Leon Bailey is feeding cattle at

Dick Smiths hay chopper, which
was chopping hay for Walt Seivers,
broke loose and turned over on the
shoe string hill and was badly dam­
aged. Dick chopped hay for Homer
Height.
Mrs. Ed Wolfe is improving.
The Christian Endeavor is having
their monthly party, Friday Jan. 17,
at Joe Wauds.
UPPER SUNSET
Mr. and Mrs. Manley's nephew,
Earl Wilkie of Parma, visited them
for two days this week.
Mrs. Roy Rookstool and her new
son are home fro mthe hospital, and
under the care of Mrs. E. Cloninger.
Hintz and Mrs. Paul Ransom are
on the sick list.
Vern Roberts of Vale, spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Raf-
fington.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Share were
in Caldwell on business Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Manley were in
Nampa on Wednesday and called on
Mr. and Mrs. Chet Sage.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cates and
family left on Monday for Okla­
homa on receiving a telegram tell­
ing them the mother of Mrs. Cates
had passed away. They will be gone
about three weeks.
Arch Eastman and Dale Limbaugh
made a trip to Payette and New
Plymouh where Arch purchased a
team of horses.
There were 24 attended the chili
feed at Dude Parkers Friday p. m.
Plans were discussed to build a club
house. Two committees were ap­
pointed to follow up the plans. Those
on the committees were: Emily Ber-
gam and Mary Reffett. Dale Lim­
baugh and Adolph Schneider.
Mr. and Mrs. Roland Whitman
are staying at Roy Rookstools while
Mrs. Rookstool is ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Session attended
the dance in the Grange Hall at
Cairo Saturday night.
Lt. Cloninger has gone back to
Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Goodell enter­
tained four tables of pinochle Sat­
urday evening.
Mrs. O. E. Cheldelin won high
prie for the ladies, while Ed Nielson
won high prize for the men. Mrs.
Leslie Topliff won low and traveling
prize, while Harlan Maw won low
prize for the men and John Bar-
tholoma won the traveling prize.
Refreshments were served to the
following guests: Messrs, and Mes-
dames, Leslie Topliff, Ed Nielson,
Harlan Maw, Jesse Ford, Lloyd Ad­
ams and John Bartholoma. .
Harlan Maw called at Leslie Top-
liff’s home Monday.
Henry and Claude Day, C. C. Wy-
ckoff attended the sale at Ontario
Wednesday.
Avia Goodell attended a director’s
meeting of the Cow Testing associa­
tion Wednesday at Ontario.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Wyckoff at­
tended a basket ball game at Nyssa
Saturday evening.
